Late at night, at the Mitchell residence.
Pain, so much pain!
Sarah Thompson buried her head deep into the pillow, her delicate face beaded with sweat that rolled down drop by drop.
Grant Mitchell looked coldly at the woman beneath him, his deep-set eyes devoid of any warmth.
At the peak of their intimacy, Sarah couldnt help but sob, but Grant, with his eyes closed, called out to another.
"Vivian..."
Vivian?
Sarahs eyes widened in shock.
Watching Grant rise and leave as mercilessly as ever, Sarah could no longer contain herself.
"If you love Vivian Thompson so much, why did you marry me in the first place?" Sarah shouted.
Vivian Thompson, her stepsister.
After three years of marriage, her husband called out another womans name. Sarah had thought she was past the point of heartbreak, but the pain still cut deep.
Grant glanced back at her, "If it werent for your mother saving my grandfather, do you think I would have married you?!"
His voice was deep and elegant, yet casually condescending.
Sarah let out a bitter, quiet laugh as tears streamed down her face.
Yes, she had recklessly fallen for Grant Mitchell. Her mother, a nurse at the hospital, had been taking care of Grants grandfather. When the hospital caught fire, her mother had died saving his grandfather. Before she died, she asked Grant to marry her daughter.
Grant did marry her. She had thought that marriage would eventually move him, but after three years, Grant still despised her.
"Actually, for the past three years, Ive been suspicious..." Grant looked at her, speaking slowly, "Who exactly started that fire? Why was it your mother who saved my grandfather?"
"Grant Mitchell! What are you implying?!" Sarah was furious.
Her beloved mother had died saving someone, yet Grant was questioning her mothers motives.
"What do I mean? Dont you understand?" Grant took a step forward, his tall figure looming over Sarah, his eyes cold as ice, "Since it was you who wanted to marry me so badly, then you will bear the consequences now!"
After saying this, Grant glanced at Sarah once more before turning and leaving.
Had she made a mistake by falling for Grant Mitchell? Should she not have foolishly aspired to marry him? But her mother... her mother was definitely not someone with ulterior motives!
Sarah hugged herself, feeling a bone-chilling cold seeping from her very bones.
If it was her mistake, then she would correct it!
Sarah got dressed, walked down the stairs. At this moment, everything in the Mitchell household was still quiet.
Sarah wrote a note and left it on the table. Since Grant said it was her who wanted to marry him, then they would divorce, and everything would go back to where it started.
"Maam?" The Mitchell familys gatekeeper, Mr. Chen, looked at Sarah with sleepy eyes.
"Mr. Chen, Im going out for a bit."
"Oh... Alright." Mr. Chen quickly opened the gate.
Where should she go? Sarah looked at the dark night outside, bit her lip. She didnt want to return to the Mitchells. The only place she could go now was home.
Although ever since her mother passed away and Margaret, with Vivian, married into the Thompson family, that place could no longer be called a home.
When Sarah arrived at the Thompson residence, it was already late at night. She used her key to open the door and walked in quietly.
