In the room, Emily sat upright, locked in a dry stare with Ethans sister, Sophie Harrison. Or more precisely, Emily was staring blankly. "You mean you really changed my clothes?" Emily asked again.
With a sly smile, Sophie leaned forward and said, "Of course, with my brothers personality, hes definitely not the type to take the initiative. You can rest easy; even if you were lying naked on the bed, my brother wouldnt touch you." Just now, that scene was indeed quite misleading.
Emily looked at her in surprise, then in horror said, "So, is he gay?" As she spoke, she reflexively wiped her lips.
Chuckling, Sophie leaned in and said suggestively, "Judging by your reaction, did my brother kiss you?" Upon closer inspection, indeed, Emilys lips appeared a bit swollen. It seemed the kiss was quite forceful.
Blushing, Emily lowered her head and remained silent. From the start of the banquet until now, Ethan had been kissing her non-stop. Thinking about the scene in the river, Emilys heart skipped a beat. He couldnt possibly be gay...
Ethan emerged from the bathroom, his face expressionless despite the obvious handprint on his cheek. Sophie quickly covered her mouth to stifle her laughter. Growing up, this was the first time she had seen Ethan get slapped.
Standing up, Sophie patted Ethan on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Bro, if theres nothing else I should do, Ill head out now. Emily, your clothes will be delivered once theyre clean. So, goodnight." With that, Sophie left cheerfully, giving Ethan a thumbs-up as she departed.
Sitting stiffly, Emily looked at the bathrobe she was wearing and couldnt calm her emotions. Glancing at Ethan, she hesitated and said, "Does it hurt?"
In response, Ethan coldly retorted, "Why dont you get slapped and see how it feels?" He hadnt expected this woman to hit so hard; he had been genuinely furious at the time.
With her clothes not yet delivered, she couldnt possibly leave wearing just a bathrobe. But how could she break the awkward atmosphere? After pondering for a while, Emily suddenly got up from the bed and ran towards the kitchen. Ethan sat down on the side of the bed, his face expressionless as he flipped through the newspaper.
Ten minutes later, Emily returned to the bed, but this time, she held two eggs in her hands. Carefully peeling the shells, she reached out her hand and, before touching him, was stopped by him grabbing her wrist: "What are you doing?"
Looking at his face, Emily apologized, "Since it was a misunderstanding, I blamed you wrongly just now. So, I have to make up for it." With that, she pulled Ethans hand down with her free hand. Under his astonished gaze, she carefully rolled the egg on his cheek.
Leaning against the headboard, Ethan stared at her. Emily was focused and gentle in her movements. Frowning slightly, she apologized, "Im really sorry, I thought you were taking advantage of the situation. Thats why I hit so hard." His left cheek was very red, almost bleeding.
Ethan didnt speak, his expression remained unchanged. After about ten minutes of this, Emily leaned forward to examine his cheek. After the application, it seemed to have swollen a bit less. Looking up, she was about to speak when she realized their positions were somewhat intimate.
Ethan turned his head, his eyes fixed on her. Emily tilted her head up, their gazes meeting in the air. Their lips were just a few centimeters apart, the warm breath wafting over their faces, causing an itchy sensation.
They were very close to each other. This was the first time Ethan had looked at her at such a close range in a well-lit environment. Her eyelashes were very long, like a dolls. Due to her leaning forward, through the slightly exposed gap, he could notice the full softness trying to escape from her chest.
Unconsciously, his head began to lower, Ethan instinctively moved forward. Emilys eyes widened, her heart fluttering. Just as their lips were about to touch, Emily shyly dodged. The next moment, Ethan regained his senses. He coughed lightly a few times to cover his embarrassment.
Moving back a bit, Emily tucked her long hair behind her ears and awkwardly laughed, "Um, can I borrow your phone? I want to make a call home."
Ethan simply responded with a nod and handed her the phone from the bedside table. Thanking him, Emily picked up the phone and dialed a number. After a few rings, she heard a familiar voice. Relieved, Emily spoke, "Dad, its Emily. My phone fell into the water... Yeah, Im at..."
Finishing the call, she returned the phone to him and said with a smile, "Someone will come to pick me up in a bit. I really appreciate you saving me tonight." Although it was also because of him that she got into this situation.
Glancing at her indifferently, Ethan calmly replied, "Im the one who should thank you." If it werent for her timely appearance, he would have been caught by those people tonight. A fierce glint flashed in his eyes, followed by a hint of bloodthirstiness.
Propping herself up on the bed, Emily laughed lightly, "Perhaps were fated to meet, thats why weve run into each other twice. Helping others is a joy, its what I should do."
Before she finished speaking, Ethan stared at her with an unpleasant expression and said, "Youre so casual with anyone you meet? Letting them kiss and hug you?" He didnt know why, but something inside him felt instinctively repelled.
Jumping up from the bed, Emily looked displeased and said, "How could I be? Do you think Im the kind of woman who would just let anyone? If I hadnt considered that not cooperating with you could have been deadly, I wouldnt have been so kind! Hmph!" Turning her head, Emily huffed and ignored him.
He didnt know why he was angry either, he just felt an instinctive aversion. The doorbell rang, and Ethan went to open the door. Outside stood a waiter who handed him the clothes.
Emily took the clothes from him and turned directly towards the bathroom. Outside the bathroom, Ethan stood with one hand in his pocket, his expression solemn as he watched her.
Dressed, Emily walked up to him and said coldly, "I should go now, goodbye!" With that, Emilys hand gripped the doorknob. Before she could turn it, he stopped her.
Frowning at him in anger, Emily remained silent. After hesitating for a long time, Ethan finally said awkwardly, "Im sorry."
Huh? Emily was taken aback, then looked at him in surprise: "Are you apologizing to me?"
A suspicious blush appeared on his cheeks, and Ethans heart was a bit flustered. This was the first time he had apologized to a woman. Turning his head away, Ethan simply said goodbye and pushed Emily out. Looking at the tightly closed door, Emily blinked, looking somewhat bewildered.
