In a dilapidated residential building, at the top attic, Emma Watson pushed open the door to see her five or six-year-old son, Lucas, sitting in front of the computer, intensely playing a game. His face was filled with uncontrollable enthusiasm and excitement, yet his words were surprisingly calm.
"Quick! Mid-lane!"
"Jungle, stop farming and push the tower!"
Lucas didnt stop moving his hands.
Emma glanced at Lucas, who was engrossed in the game, and went straight to the kitchen to put down the groceries before coming back to his side.
"Lucas, take a break if youre tired. Sitting in front of the computer for too long isnt good for your eyes."
Lucas looked at Emma with his peripheral vision and said in a soft, wheedling voice, "Emma, dont worry, I know what Im doing."
Emma glanced at the screen, which displayed a popular online multiplayer battle game that emphasized operational skills, judgment, and cooperation among teammates, highly praised by the younger generation.
"Look! Were going to win."
While talking, Lucas didnt stop his actions, and soon they destroyed the enemys crystal.
"Yay! Yay!"
Lucas, who won, hugged Emmas neck and shouted excitedly.
"Emma, Ive earned some money again!"
Emma gently hugged Lucas and sighed softly.
This child, born out of an unexpected event, she had raised alone for five years. As a university graduate, she could have found a good job and started a new life in society.
However, when employers learned that she was a single mother, they all refused to hire her, causing her to run around with her child, homeless.
If it werent for Mrs. Thompson from the clothing store downstairs, who kindly took her in and helped her look after the store and her child when she had time, she wouldnt know how many jobs she would have changed.
Fortunately, Lucas would be going to kindergarten in a few months, and then she could breathe easier.
"Dont sigh, Emma!" Lucas felt Emmas sadness, holding her face with his hands, and said seriously.
"Im already earning more than you now, and in a while, when my reputation in the gaming community is even greater, you wont have to work. Just stay at home and let me support you."
Looking at Lucass childish face with a serious expression, Emma felt a pang of heartache: "Youre just a few years old, working so hard every day, I really feel guilty."
Lucas raised a defiant face, his childish voice speaking like an adult: "Im the only man in the family, and I naturally have the responsibility to take care of you and earn money to support the family."
"But look at me, Im so young, even if I wanted to work as a child laborer, no one would want me. Isnt gaming a good way?"
"When I have money in the future, Ill buy you cosmetics, designer bags, and dress you up as the most beautiful mother in the world."
"Who taught you all this?" Emma couldnt help but laugh and ask Lucas.
"Arent girls supposed to want bags and hugs? I can only give you hugs now, but Ill satisfy you with everything in the future!"
Saying this, Lucas hugged Emma again: "You go rest, Im going to work again!"
Then he sat back in front of the computer, ready to start a new game.
Emma, with mixed feelings, touched Lucass head and turned back to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Humming a song, she chopped the vegetables, and Emma was in a good mood. She was a positive person and always had a way to make life lively and colorful, making herself and the people around her happy.
"You guys hurry up, I have to have dinner with Emma later!"
Hearing Lucass words, Emmas mouth curled up unconsciously. Lucas was always sensible and never cried like other children. Instead, he tried his best to help her and never caused trouble for her.
In a short while, Lucass childish voice came again.
"What are you guys? Why can you get into my house?"
Emma was slightly stunned, thinking Lucas was talking to his teammates in the game.
"Mom, save me! Mom!"
Hearing Lucass cry, Emma reacted and rushed out with a kitchen knife in her hand, but she was still late. She only saw two burly men in black suits carrying the struggling Lucas disappearing down the corridor.
Emma chased desperately to the downstairs, but the men in black had already put Lucas into a black minivan and drove away in front of Emma.
Emma fell to the ground in despair, tears gushing out.
The noise just now had alarmed Mrs. Thompson inside the room, who rushed out to comfort, "Emma, dont cry, call the police quickly, the police will help you find your child."
Emma suddenly woke up and, with Mrs. Thompsons help, called the police.
Soon, a police car roared over, and a police officer in uniform got out.
He was over six feet tall with a soft face, fair skin that made girls look twice.
His eyes were clear and clean, looking like a warm male character from a novel.
With such a look, if not for the police uniform, you would never believe he was a policeman.
"Hello, Im the police officer in this area, Ethan Clark," said the police officer, extending his hand.
"Officer, my child was just taken away by someone," Emma shook Ethan Clarks hand, trying to control her emotions to make herself less incoherent.
"Please calm down and tell me the story in detail."
Taking a deep breath and trying to calm down, Emma narrated everything before and after Lucas was taken away in detail.
Listening to the narration and making records seriously, although Emma was talking in a muddle, Ethan Clark understood the whole thing.
He knew this was a big case, and his face became serious, and he made a judgment immediately.
"Comrade, this is a major case, I will immediately report to the leadership, and it will definitely get the attention of the leadership, you rest assured that we will definitely help you find the child back."
After that, Ethan Clark took out his mobile phone and called the director.
"Hmm, okay, leader, I will tell her about this matter."
"Hmm, okay, I will definitely pay attention to the relationship between the police and the people."
Ethan Clark hung up the phone, and a bit embarrassed expression appeared on his face. After a pause, he told Emma.
"This is not a kidnapping, the child was taken away by his father."
Emmas head exploded instantly, the crazy night in the hotel six years ago was lingering in her mind.
"This is impossible, Lucas doesnt have a father." Emma blurted out.
