In everybodys eyes, Cynthia Lewin was a most ungrateful and unscrupulous cunt. After returning to her biological parents, she didnt in the slightest feel grateful; instead, she plotted to have sex with Eason Chinn—her sisters fiancé.
Malvina Shinn, Cynthias sister, was devastated, and decided to escape, only to be shoved down the stairs by the ruthless cunt, paralyzing her legs.
As all were demanding that she must be punished, the woman fainted, and was diagnosed as having severe heart disease.
Out of pity, Grandpa Chinn forced Eason to marry her.
The truth, however, was that Cynthia had been cherishing the companionship of her family and never attempted to harm anyone.
But nobody would believe her, not even her husband.
It was December 25th, Christmas day, and the wedding day of Cynthia and Eason. The entire city of Carlton was shrouded in thick snow.
Donning a simple wedding dress and standing at the door of a luxury villa, Cynthia kept ringing the bell. She was apparently in haste and anxiety.
The icy wind, mixed with snow, was blowing non-stop at her, making her body numb with cold, yet her heart could clearly feel the pain and despair.
As the pang grew increasingly intense, she found herself unable to stand on her feet, and she had to support herself with one hand on the wall, and the other stoically ringing the bell.
She must not collapse. Her foster mother needed one million for her operation, and she must get it from Eason.
True, Eason loathed her, but she had no alternative, for she went to her real parents just now, only to overhear something appalling and heartrending.
"Damn it, that cunt screwed my plan. Werent it for her interference, I should have been the one marrying into the Chinn family now."
"We shouldnt have had her back. She should be lost forever, since young. The doctor said she couldnt live more than twenty years, but I wonder why she is still so alive and healthy now. Anyway, Id rather she be dead and gone. Thats better than her coming back and meddling in Malvinas marriage."
"How should I have known things would be like this? I thought its better to have one more child; we could marry her to a good family and get some profit, perhaps."
"You retarded old man, dont you remember what that wicked bitch brought us when she was born? Were almost broke because of her, remember? Shes a jinx, and an ailing liability. I cant possibly fathom any benefit she could bring us."
Struck by a pang of grief and despair, Cynthia realized she had no choice but to turn to Eason. She had to get the money no matter what. With the thought in her mind, she pressed the bell with more vehemence.
Just then, the sound of a sudden brake came from behind her.
She turned around with difficulty, and saw Eason out of the car.
So he wasnt home, she thought; and the thought that he didnt open the door because he wasnt there gave her sort of a comfort.
Eason pulled a long face, not concealing his disgust toward her.
As a matter of fact, his heartstrings had for a moment been tugged at by her resilience and innocence, but later he found that it was all faked.
He saw her fawning on an old man, smiling ingratiatingly, and then giving the money shed earned to another man.
He concluded that she plotted against her in order to marry him and get his money to support her toyboy.
Even a glance at the woman would make him sick, and he had to marry her. What was more, his grandma recommended her as an employee of Chinn Corp..
Eason directly walked in the house without casting another glance at her.
Cynthia felt a mixture of grief and indignation, and she hastened to hold him. "I didnt set you up, Eason. Its Malvina; I heard it with my own ears. Its her whos plotting against you, and her legs…"
"Enough!" Eason shrugged her away angrily, his eyes filled with loathing, as if before him was the filthiest thing in the world. "Save yourself some dignity, Miss, please. You did it; you admit it, alright?"
"I didnt. Its not me," roared Cynthia in a low voice. She was overwhelmed with tearful rage.
Eason grinned scornfully, and, unwilling to waste time on her, he turned to enter the house.
Cynthia clenched her teeth and followed him in, despite the great pain within her.
Now he wouldnt possibly believe her, she thought, shed have to put it aside, for her priority now was to get the money.
Being in the room didnt make Cynthia a little better. The penetrating chill remained within her.
She turned to look at Easons nonchalant face, and uttered slowly, "If you wouldnt believe me, I wont say more, but… I… I need you to help me with something."
Eason made no response, only smoking in silence.
The silence rendered Cynthia all the more embarrassed, but she soon decided there was nothing she could lose now since her dignity had long been trampled on and was battered.
She drew a deep breath, and said with difficulty, "Could… Could you lend me one million?"
"Humph!" Eason let out a scornful snort, and said casually, "As expected, its all about money. But I wonder wheres the hurry; you know, its just the first day of our marriage."
"Ill definitely give it back to you, with interest—Ill do whatever I could to repay you."
"Whatever you could? You mean, stripping naked and lying on my bed?" There was a strong suggestion of scorn and disdain in his voice. "You know what, I still feel sick at the thought of what happened that night, so dont talk about it again."
Cynthia felt another pang of grief, yet she managed to say, "However you think of me, please, I really need the one million. I promise, even if Ill have to pay it at the cost of my life… "
At that moment, Kevin Chard, Easons assistant, trotted in. "Mr. Chinn, the customized necklace is ready."
Eason cast an impassive look at Cynthia, and said flatly to Kevin, "Give it to Miss Shinn now, Kevin."
The very word momentarily rendered Cynthia to tears. And the composure shed been trying to retain now dissipated within her.
She knew such a necklace was worth at least several hundred million dollars, a proportion of which she was begging for and rejected now. After all, Eason loved Malvina and loathed her.
Seeing Eason ready to go upstairs, Cynthia hurried to hold him, begging, "Just lend me one million, please, Eason. I know the necklace you give Malvina is worth much more than that; I know you have the money. Please, Eason, Im your wife, remember?"
