Ashley had another sleepless night with Caroline sleeping next to her. But she feels relaxed beside her. Now, she has time to think about what they can watch when she visits Vincents apartment. Should they go out for dinner or should she cook for him? Does he want some cheesecake for dessert? Okay, should she also make cheesecake at his apartment? The train will arrive at eight, and she can be ready by half past eight.
"Ash, stop daydreaming about your perfect boyfriend," Caroline emerged from the fitting room, "What do you think of this one?" She wore a light pink strapless dress that hugged her body, making her look even more lovely.
"What shoes are you going to wear with it?" Ashley absentmindedly asked. Suddenly, the familiar tingling feeling returned. She has been watched.
"Caroline, I dont feel well... I gotta go...” Ashley said as she grabbed her purse and hurried away.
"Wait, Ash!" Ignoring Carolines anxious calls. Ashley ran out of the shop and hurried to her car. She has to move today. She pulled out her phone and called her real estate agent. She didnt know if she had run a red light or how many red lights she had run. She stopped in the garage, rushed back home, and locked the door.
"Okay, calm down. Its probably nothing. Calm down," she said as her phone rang crazily in her purse. It is Caroline. With shaky fingers, she swiped to answer her call.
"Oh my God. Ashley. Are you alright? What happened? You never acted like that before. Whats wrong?"
Ashley heard her friend babbling, feeling exhausted. She didnt want her friend to constantly worry about her like this.
"Im fine. I just didnt sleep well last night, and now I have to take the train to see Vincent in three hours, so... my headache," Ashley lied. Its not the first time. But she needs to be alone.
"Okay, call me when you arrive. Bye." Caroline sensed something, but she didnt press it.
Now she needs to pack. She doesnt have a lot of possessions, just the necessities such as computers and some expensive accessories. She can take this stuff with her. Hopefully, when she returns on Sunday, she will be able to move into a new apartment or she could stay in a hotel.
She does not want to see him again. Not after what he has put her through. Her life has finally gotten back on track. She cannot afford for her life to be destroyed again. She hates him. Yes, that devilish man. He tortured her body and toyed with her emotions. He even made her heart betray her. Tears swell in her eyes, blocking her view. If he were here, he would hold her from behind, carry her to bed, and ask her tenderly to stop crying while kissing her near her ear. She might fall back into his trap again. She would be locked up in his basement and tortured by his wolf-shifter wife again.
No, she wont let her mind go down that trail again. She picked up her purse from the floor, pulled her suitcase and computer, and walked out.
When the elevator opened, Ashley didnt hurry to get out. She took a few steps and looked around the garage before running toward her car. Everything seems normal, but she catches a familiar scent of pine and cedar mixed with sweat.
Its him. He is here. But it was too late. When she came to her sense, she found herself tightly bound by two strong arms of steel. She then felt a gentle nuzzling sensation from her neck. Its him. He is coming. He has come from the past and caught her again.
Then, she heard a familiar voice coming from deep within his chest, "Mate."
After two years of living in fear, he once again comes to reclaim his slave.
