Jessie wanted to refuse, but then she thought of what Lionel said. Amanda might know something about the case.
"What do you want to tell me?" Jessie asked her directly.
"Get in the car. I happen to know a good place. We can drink while talking."
Jessie followed her into her new car and they arrived at a very old club.
Jessie froze at the door. "Why this place?"
"Get inside. Why are you standing there?"
Amanda held Jessies arm intimately and pulled her in.
"This place is small but its quite unique. I often come here for a drink. It was Gabriel who brought me here."
Jessie subconsciously clenched her fist.
This pub was their secret place. Gabriel and she liked having a drink here whether they won or lost a case. This place belonged to them. Nobody should know about it. Perhaps only Jessie thought this way given the fact that Gabriel apparently already took Amanda here.
"Two Venuss Kiss, please."
Jessie was still lost in her thought when she heard Amanda already ordered the drink for her.
Venuss Kiss...
Again, Jessie was stabbed at the heart ruthlessly.
The drink was a token of their love as well as Gabriels favourite drink.
Gabriel knew Jessie had a bad stomach. He always asked the bartender to set the ratio of alcohol to the lowest. She could hardly taste any alcohol in it.
"Venuss Kiss is Gabriels favourite. He often brought me here on our dates. We drank all the wine in here."
"Is this butchering going to stop?" Jessie couldnt take it anymore. It turned out that here never had been their secret spot but Gabriel and Amandas. She was the foolish one.
Amanda wore little makeup today, looking pure and innocent. Jessie stared at her face, trying to find their likeness. She turned her head and saw her reflection in the glass wall. She was surprised to find that there was a certain similarity between them.
"I look like Amanda. Not the other way around. I am the stand-in." Jessie felt her heart had been ripped out again and again.
"Ms. Jessie, I drink a toast to you! Thanks for taking such a good care of Gabriel all these years. He was in great pain after I left him. I guess he used you to forget about me. But I am here. I wont leave him again. You can let go of him."
Jessie felt so humiliated.
"If thats all you want to say to me, I dont want to hear anymore."
"Hold on, whats the rush?"
Amanda pulled Jessie back. She took a check out of her bag and put it on the table.
Jessie frowned.
"You can write whatever number you want on this check. All you need to do is back off the Sky Corporations case."
Jessie sneered, "Is this how the Sky Corporation gets away with all the accidents with impunity? By bribery?"
Jessie didnt want to waste her breath with this woman. She grabbed her bag and left her seat without even looking at the check.
"Gabriel never loved you. Last night, he told me he never stopped loving me."
Jessie stumbled out of the pub under Amandas sarcasm.
Seeing Jessie leaving out of her sight, Amanda put away her gloating smile. A fierce look appeared on her face.
"You have been hogging my man for so long. You think I will just let it go?"
Amanda looked out the window into the middle distance. A man with a camera in his hand was nodding at her.
