Isabella smiled sweetly, "Darling, dont be so harsh. Even an obscure university is a university, and its from abroad after all."
The couples coordinated jabs left their mutual friends at a loss, unsure of how to mediate the situation between the ex-spouses. Scarlett was furious but didnt let it show on her face. "An obscure university is better than not finishing high school. At least its a returnee, isnt it, Mrs. Calhoun?"
Isabellas face turned pale instantly. She and Noah had known each other since childhood, but her family had fallen into hard times early on, and she had attended a vocational high school after junior high. She later entered the entertainment industry without finishing her education, her academic credentials barely amounting to a high school dropout.
In the entertainment industry, image is everything, and Isabella had crafted a persona as an outstanding graduate of the Small Flower Art School. However, anyone who cared to investigate would find that this was a subpar institution, one that would grant diplomas for money without requiring attendance.
Everyone was aware of this, but no one had ever openly exposed it. Isabella felt a wave of embarrassment and her eyes welled up with tears.
"You!" Noah glared at Scarlett, but in his eyes, Isabella was perfect in every way except for her education and career, which were sore spots. Being confronted with this publicly made him feel awkward as well.
"Scarlett OHara, did you come here just to upset me?" Noah demanded.
Scarletts lips curved into a smile. "I originally didnt intend to upset you, but since I was invited, Mr. Calhoun, you should keep a closer eye on your people, lest they cause you more trouble like they did today."
The onlookers couldnt help but snicker at her obvious sarcasm and teasing. Noahs face turned from red to purple with anger.
"Scarlett OHara, we are divorced. Cant you stop this obsession? Ive been more than generous with you. Whats the point of this?"
Scarlett scoffed, "It seems my invitation wasnt personally delivered by Mrs. Calhoun, but magically appeared on its own. My eyes have truly been opened. Edward, what do you call this?"
"A pig dressing up as a monk鈥攁ccusing others while being guilty oneself."
Edward caught on quickly and responded in kind. This caused not only the others but even Scarlett to stifle a laugh.
Noah was furious. "Scarlett OHara, take care of yourself. I dont want to see you again."
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "As if I want to see you. I just came to tell you and Isabella that you two are a perfect match, a combination of scum and cheapness. Congratulations."
This made the situation even worse; Noah was enraged, and Isabella was in tears. At that moment, Edward calmly took out a document from Scarletts small bag and laid out its contents on the table.
Scarlett remembered that Edward had asked her to bring his degree certificate for an errand. "Whats this?" she asked.
Edwards expression was indifferent as he said, "I happened to be carrying my degree certificates today for some business. Mr. Calhouns earlier remarks made me feel the need to clarify, lest someone really thinks my alma mater is an obscure university."
Already, there were gasps from the people around them. "Wow, not really, is it Harvard?"
"My goodness, a Masters in Finance."
"And another in Development Economics."
"He also has Bachelors degrees in Philosophy and Theology."
"Wait, isnt this guy pursuing his Ph.D.?"
