Jane stood at the door, her hands covering her mouth, her face a picture of disbelief, her crying appearing exceptionally fragile and pitiable.
Mr. Darcy immediately rushed over: "Jane, its not what you think..."
"Ah—" Jane suddenly clasped her head with both hands, squatting down and screaming, the ear-piercing sound almost rupturing Elizabeths eardrums.
"Jane, no, please dont have a relapse," Mr. Darcy pleaded, pulling her into his arms, holding her tightly with heartache, "Someone, bring a sedative quickly!"
Jane struggled and screamed, managing to break free from his embrace, pointing at Elizabeth and shouting hoarsely, "Why are you trying to seduce him! He is my fiancé, your brother-in-law to be! I didnt hold it against you when you drugged Darcy five years ago, but now we are engaged. Cant you leave us alone?"
Elizabeth watched her breakdown, standing still and silent.
She had explained too many times already, she had not drugged Mr. Darcy five years ago; instead, someone had lured her to a hotel, where she inadvertently became his antidote.
It was on that very night that she lost her innocence and, more importantly, her love.
Janes madness was also a residual effect from that night.
"Jane, its my fault, please calm down," Mr. Darcy tried desperately to hold her, yet he feared to grip her too tightly for fear of causing harm, his eyes filled with compassion that pierced Elizabeths heart.
But Jane shook off his hand, becoming even more agitated, throwing and smashing everything within reach, her face covered in tears, looking both comical and grotesque.
At that moment, Mrs. Bennet hurried in, clutching a syringe of tranquilizer.
Upon seeing the愤恨 glare Jane directed at Elizabeth, her expression darkened instantly.
SLAP!
Another slap, this time with full force, landed on Elizabeths face.
"How could you, you wretched girl! I thought you could reform, but in the end, you are still the same vile person!" Mrs. Bennets voice trembled with rage, as if she wished she could strike her dead on the spot.
Elizabeth only covered her face and remained silent, well aware that no matter what she said, the outcome would be the same.
Everyone was cursing at her, everyone wished for her demise; this was the unchangeable life that Elizabeth Bennet was doomed to.
Mrs. Bennet vented her anger and rushed to Janes side, attempting to administer the sedative, only to be pushed away.
Jane, like a maddened beast, screamed and roared, charging towards Elizabeth, grabbing her shoulders and shouting frantically, "Sister! You are my sister! I can give you anything you want, but not Darcy! You cannot take him away from me!"
Elizabeth clutched her clothes with one hand and pushed at the frenzied Jane with the other, but she had to mind her own indecent exposure and couldnt really compete with her, only staggering along the direction Jane dragged her.
Suddenly, Jane stomped on her foot fiercely, causing Elizabeth to cry out in pain, and in that moment, she was pulled forward by Jane.
"Ah!" A heart-wrenching scream echoed throughout the room, and when she opened her eyes again, she saw a pool of bright red blood on the floor.
