Emily Adams opened her eyes and found herself tied to a chair, her body covered in bruises. She looked around and saw a glimmer of firelight in the dim corner. Following the light, she saw a familiar figure sitting in the corner, holding a lit cigarette.
"Jack, do you have to treat me like this?" She couldnt understand why their three-year marriage couldnt stand up to Lilys return in just one month.
Jacks eyes flickered, then he resumed his usual indifference.
"Compared to what you did to Lily, Ive been merciful."
"I said, I didnt do it. Weve been together for three years. Dont you know what kind of person I am? How could I send someone to humiliate her, let alone want to kill her?" Emily looked at Jack and asked.
Jack extinguished his cigarette and strode to Emily, lifting her chin coldly. "With witnesses and evidence, how can I believe you?"
"After three years as husband and wife, and shes only been back for less than a month, are you so sure shes telling the truth?" Emily asked with a bitter smile.
"Youre such a vicious woman; you dont deserve to speak of trust."
Jacks grip tightened, and Emilys face ached under his fingers, but she bit her teeth and remained silent.
"Jack," a sweet voice rang out as the door suddenly opened. Emilys body trembled slightly. She turned her head and saw her half-sister, Lily Adams, standing at the door with an innocent expression.
"Bitch," Emily hissed through gritted teeth.
Lily heard her curse, glared at her, then pretended she hadnt heard anything and ran to Jack, holding his arm.
"Lily, what brings you here? Youre not well, and youre pregnant. You should go back and rest," Jack said gently.
Pregnant. Emilys pale face showed a trace of desolation. She had only been back for a month, and they had already been intimate.
"Im fine, and the doctor said the baby is very healthy," Lily said loudly on purpose, glancing at Emily.
Jack patted Lilys head. "Healthy is good. What brings you here?"
"I want to talk to my sister alone, is that okay?" Lily hugged Jack affectionately, her voice sweet.
"Alright, call me if you need anything," Jack said, casting a glance at Emily before leaving.
Watching Jack and Lily being affectionate, Emilys heart grew cold.
The door slammed shut, leaving only Emily and Lily in the room.
"Sister, how does it feel to be locked up, away from the sun?" Lily asked, stroking her belly and smiling.
Emily looked at Lilys arrogant face, her forehead veins bulging.
"Bitch, youll get whats coming to you!" Her eyes were filled with blood, and she cursed fiercely.
"Is that so? Its a pity you wont see it," Lily said with a sinister smile.
Then, she took out a sharp dagger from her clothes. The dagger glinted coldly.
Emilys heart trembled slightly, and she looked at the door hopefully, wishing Jack would come in at that moment.
Lily seemed to see what she was thinking and said mockingly, "Youre still hoping Jack will save you? How ridiculous."
"If Jack finds out Im dead, you wont be able to explain it, right?" Emily said coldly, looking at Lily.
"Hehe, youre really naive. Do you know why you havent been pregnant in these three years?" Lily asked with a mocking smile.
"What do you mean?" Emilys heart trembled.
"Because Jack gives you medicine after every time, thats why you havent been pregnant in three years, and I got pregnant at once. So, do you think he cares about your life or death..." Lily said, laughing triumphantly.
