The day after the board meeting, Buchanan Enterprises, represented by Daisy Buchanan, held a press conference. At the conference, Daisy conducted herself with grace and poise, providing satisfactory responses to the journalists challenging questions. For a time, everyone following the incident expressed a newfound fondness for the Buchanan familys leading lady. Regarding the product issue, consumers涔熻〃绀轰簡璋呰В.
As the first round of interviews came to an end, Daisy retreated to the backstage area, feeling a pulsating ache in her temples. Since disembarking from the plane, she had barely caught any rest, nearly running herself ragged to quell the turmoil. The exhaustion was beginning to settle in, and she sank into a chair backstage, propping her head up, longing for a moments repose.
"Miss Buchanan, Mr. Gatsby has fulfilled his promise by selling his shares in Buchanan Enterprises, and the proceeds have been transferred in full to our companys bank account," her secretary informed her, entering with documents in hand.
Daisy was taken aback for a moment, feeling a sense of surprise. Jay Gatsby had actually followed through with his actions.
No, that wasnt right. Jay Gatsby had shares in Buchanan Enterprises...
But why would he help her like this?
As Daisy pondered this, her secretary added, "Mr. Gatsbys assistant just called and invited you to a dinner at the Atlantis Hotel tonight."
"Mm, make a call on my behalf to thank Mr. Gatsby and tell him I wont be able to attend due to feeling unwell," Daisy replied. Although she was grateful for Jays assistance, she was not keen on getting entangled with him so soon after returning to her country. Otherwise, the gossiping press would undoubtedly concoct stories about their relationship.
As soon as Daisy had this thought, her phone vibrated with an incoming call from Jay Gatsby.
She hesitated for a moment before answering, "Mr. Gatsby, congratulations. Your company has managed to alleviate some of the crisis."
"Since youre talking about gratitude, then show it properly. I insist that Miss Buchanan attend tonights dinner. The business tycoons are eager to meet the Buchanan familys favorite daughter. To refuse would be quite impolite, dont you think? Besides, you still have a way to go to cross the river, and it seems youre not even halfway there yet."
"You..." Daisy wanted to retort, but Jay had already hung up, leaving her with a breath of frustration and a sudden surge of anger. However, she managed to suppress it.
If Jay had indeed invited those business magnates and she did not attend, it would indeed be a breach of etiquette. Moreover, given the current state of Buchanan Enterprises, the previous product issue had already caused a slowdown in production lines, desperately in need of major merchants and orders. If she exerted herself, perhaps she could indeed help Buchanan Enterprises.
"Get ready, were leaving for the event tonight," Daisy said with a soft sigh, picking up her bag and heading out.
The night was deep, and the fabled Atlantis Hotel shone like a castle in the darkness, its European-style architecture standing alone in the most expensive part of the city center, a place where ordinary people dared not tread.
Daisy, dressed in a goose-yellow evening gown, appeared noble and elegant. Her fair and delicate skin seemed to radiate an enticing glow against the soft yellow. The gown hinted at her well-proportioned figure and long, beautiful legs, capturing the attention of every man who passed by.
"Miss Buchanan, right this way, please," a European-style servant dressed in palace attire said with a gentlemanly smile, bowing slightly to guide her.
"Alright," Daisy followed the servant, and soon they arrived at the door of a suite.
"I was told there would be a banquet. What is the meaning of this?"
"Mr. Gatsby wishes to discuss something privately with you," the servant replied, opening the door with a smile that did not waver. Although Daisy felt a bit apprehensive, she stepped inside.
"Mr. Gatsby is inside, and I shall leave you two to your discussion."
Daisy looked around the room, which was dimly lit with a warm red tone that created a strangely relaxing atmosphere. The air was filled with a faint rose scent, easing her tense nerves. However, the room was empty.
What was Jay Gatsby up to this time?
Daisy moved further into the room and noticed another door. Could Jay be inside?
Without giving it much thought, she hesitantly pushed the door open, immediately regretting her decision. "Jay Gatsby! Youre shameless!" Daisy spun around to leave, but her burning ears betrayed her embarrassment.
Jay lounged leisurely in the hot spring pool, watching her tense back with a hint of amusement. "Miss Buchanan, Im the one whos been seen, yet here you are calling me shameless." He picked up a glass of wine nearby, casually swirling it before taking a sip. The red liquid smoothly slid down his throat, and with his alluring appearance, he resembled a vampire count from the night.
"Jay Gatsby, what do you want from me? Hurry up and say it, then Im leaving!" Daisy still wouldnt turn around, but she heard Jay getting out of the water.
"After all, we were husband and wife for three months, werent we? Miss Buchanan, theres no need to be so shy. Is there something we cant discuss face to face?" Jay approached Daisy, his muscular physique on full display.
The steam from the hot spring rose, and Jay stood naked before Daisy. His robust and perfect figure was not unfamiliar to her. A strange thought fleetingly crossed Daisys mind, and she had an urge to reach out and touch his firm muscles and skin, wondering if the sensation would be as pleasant as before.
However, her remaining rationality urged her to push Jay away.
Unaware that her resistance only fueled the beast within Jay, his hands soon encircled Daisys waist, and his cold, thin lips descended upon hers, initiating a frenzied, deep kiss.
Daisy struggled, her heart in turmoil, insisting to herself that she felt nothing for him, nothing at all!
"Do you really not like me?" Jay seemed to sense her aversion and abruptly released her, stepping back with a calm tone.
"Yes!" At that moment, Daisy was in disarray, but her words remained stubborn.
Jay said nothing more, a fleeting trace of loss crossing his face. He grabbed a bath towel nearby, smirking, "I just wanted to have some fun with Miss Buchanan. Dont take it too seriously." With that, he wrapped the towel around himself and walked out.
A surge of anger welled up inside Daisy. He had let her go, and she should have felt relieved, but why did she feel so irritable instead?
Shaking her head vigorously, she suppressed the emotions on the verge of collapsing within her, wiped the water from her face, and strode out.
