"Elizabeth Bennet, are you trying to escape after committing murder?"
"What do you mean?" Elizabeth looked up at Mr. Darcy blankly, hadnt her father said that they should part on good terms after all they had been father and daughter?
"An eye for an eye, Officer Liu, take her away!" With Mr. Darcys cold command, two men in uniform stepped forward from the crowd and forcibly escorted Elizabeth away.
"No, I didnt kill anyone... I didnt kill anyone..."
Elizabeth shrank into the corner, the grinding teeth and snoring of the prisoners echoing in her ears. The monotonous life had long turned these prisoners into numb, mechanical beings. Was her life to be spent in this prison?
Elizabeth bit her arm, tears helplessly streaming down her cheeks... No, she didnt kill anyone, she had to get out!
"Let me out, let me out, I didnt kill anyone, Im innocent, Jane... Jane..."
Exhausted and frantic, she finally succumbed to delirium and passed out.
At midnight, two men in black stood silently in front of Elizabeth.
"Is this her? Shes quite a looker, but what a pity..."
"Whats there to pity? Shes a death row inmate anyway, and its an honor for her to cure our masters poison!"
"Who are you? Let me go..." Elizabeth gazed at the masked man in horror and screamed, but all she received in response was the mans even more ruthless actions, as if a knife carving flesh, each stroke cutting deep into her body.
She didnt know how much time had passed, but her body felt as if it had been crushed by a truck, every inch of skin numb and devoid of sensation.
"Drag her out and dispose of her!" The cold, weathered male voice issued the order, and she was carried out by two men.
"Brother Long, are we really taking her to Sunset Bay? Thats too much trouble, isnt it? Besides, shes a death row inmate whos already cured the Snow Lotus poison. Do you really expect her to survive? Our master isnt known for his tender mercies..."
The weather in December was gloomy, and it was so cold that ones teeth ached with each breath. As the wind blew,预示着即将到来的大雪,Brother Long glanced at the bloodstain on the white blanket and nodded, steering the car towards the mountain road and casually tossing Elizabeth into the woods.
Five years later, outside the gates of Pemberley, a group of little rascals eagerly watched the end of the path.
"That little brat wont be scared, will he?"
"Must be scared, all his talk about being spot-on was just hot air!"
"Daring to stand us up, well make him pay later!"
"Here comes Billy!" Amidst the chatter, a grinning little boy trotted up the path, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he ran.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven—Billy looked at the seven kids dressed in tailored childrens clothes, his eyes crinkling even more at the corners. Seven little spendthrifts—his take today would definitely be substantial!
"Im here!" Billy stood among them, his gaze sweeping around, "Did you bring what I asked for?"
