It was dark outside, and it was night time as the clock read 9:00 PM. A yawn escaped Isla's mouth as she stretched on the couch, Alexander standing right behind her.
Doesn't he get tired standing? She thought. She felt bad for him, his legs must ache at night.
"Alex?" She said getting his attention.
"Yes ma'am?" He asked.
"Don't you get tired? Don't your legs hurt?" She asked peering up at him with concerned eyes.
His heart warmed at her concern. Her question was so innocent, it was hard to imagine that this angel was the daughter of a notorious mafia boss.
"No ma'am, I am used to it, we train for it" he explains in a few words.
She nodded her head, still not satisfied but it was his job so she couldn't say anything about it.
Another yawn escaped her lips, and she rubbed her eyes. She was very tired.
"Alright Alex, I am gonna go sleep now, I liked your company today, now you go sleep too and I'll see you tomorrow" she said groggily, he could see her eyes were a little red from sleep.
It made him want to tuck her in. Weird urge.
"Sure, ma'am goodnight" he said walking her to the staircase as she sleepily retreated to her room.
He sighed watching her go.
He had a long night ahead of him.
"Your mission objective is to basically go in evacuate the civilians from the night club first, there is an underground floor to the club, the Costello family's main drug base, that's how they make money for weaponry, it's basically their main source of income so you have to burn down the building, capture a man or two for information and that's it" Richard Gambino briefed.
Alexander stood with his arms crossed listening closely along with the other men.
"How many men do I take?" Alexander asked, his gaze scrutinizing.
"20" Richard replied and Alexander's brows furrowed, a disapproving look crossing his features.
"No, too many" Alexander said disagreeing.
"Isn't having man power on your side a good thing?" Richard asked, his jaw tightening.
"Not in this case, we don't want to be noticed by the civilians or alert the Costello men, the less in number we are the better, we'll have the advantage of the element of surprise" Alexander explained his side.
"Alright then, how many men do you suggest?" Richard asked.
"Six at most" Alexander said looking Richard in the eye.
"You sure? I don't want you to fail this mission " Richard looked at him, eyes calculating.
"I am sure, we won't fail" Alexander assured.
"It's decided then, six men, your pick, good luck" Richard said and with those words he was out of the compounds leaving Alexander with a room full of twenty other men looking at him.
"Alright then, I need six, good ones" he said.
The music blared in the night club with the disco lights shining and the fluorescent paints on the young teens bodies glowed.
It was a very busy nightclub. It worked in both their advantage and disadvantage considering it would be east to go unnoticed in midst of such a large mass of people, but it would be hard to evacuate them.
Alexander told the other six men to disperse. They were all dressed accordingly to blend in, all out of their usual black suits and in casual clothing.
Alexander perused through the crowd taking in his surroundings and thinking of a way to create some sort of distraction to get the people out.
He could see the Costello men in black standing alert, but he didn't let that distract him from the task at hand, he could take out at least a twenty men on his own.
He smirked to himself as he saw the fire alarm on the wall at the end.
Making his way over to the alarm that was shielded with a glass he looked around to see if anybody noticed him. Upon seeing everybody was in a rhythm of their own he brought his elbow up to the glass with force and broke it feeling a shard pierce his elbow but not caring of it as he yanked it out in a second and pushed the fire alarm.
The fire alarms blaring created a chaos amongst the people as they trampled over each other making their way to the fire exit and some even to the entrance.
Perfect distraction for them to slip into the underground base as the Costello men got busy in get the crowd in order.
"Boss we found the entrance to the base it's near the bar just to the right, a stair case leading down, two guards were previously guarding it, but they got busy in the crowd" one of Gambino men said through the ear piece each of them was wearing.
"Good job, wait for us don't go in alone, we'll take them by surprise altogether" Alexander ordered and they all answered with a 'yes boss'.
Alexander made his way to where his man has told him and sure enough there was the entrance, a staircase leading straight down but something felt off to him.
They wouldn't leave such an important entrance unprotected just like that unless they had men ready to ambush them down there.
"Be ready for action, my instinct is telling me they are waiting to ambush us down there and we don't know how many. You ready?" Alexander looked at them as they all took out their revolvers nodding in confirmation.
Alexander took the lead as he descended the stairs slowly with caution, his team behind him.
Sure, enough as the last of them descended down the stairs into the base they were ambushed by no less than 12 Costello men, all armed.
"Two men each boys get to it!" Alexander shouted out the order before him and his men charged at the Costello men and gunshots were fired everywhere.
Alexander shot with precise aim and shot three between the eyes just in the first few seconds before taking cover behind a barrel of crystal meth.
He was reloading his gun when he was taken by surprise as a man attacked him and punched Alexander right on the face.
Alexander's temper flared.
That one punch was all that man managed as Alexander pinned him down pummeling his face with blows after blows tell he was a bloody mess.
"You should leave him alive, we shot everyone else dead" one of the Gambino men said.
Right, they needed to spare one or two for questioning.
"It's your lucky day. You don't die by my hands today" Alexander hissed out getting up.
The Gambino men dragged the unconscious man out with them as they torched the whole place behind them.
