After Anastasia agreed to the divorce, Christian sent her back to the hospital. She stayed in the hospital for a few days, and Christian never showed up. She was both hoping he would come and dreading his presence. His visits would only be to discuss the divorce, and she didnt want to experience the disgust of being touched by someone else. He had nearly let her be hit by a car to divorce her and had sent her to a strange mans bed when she was injured. If she refused to divorce him, she didnt know what else Christian was capable of!
Thinking about this, she couldnt help but let out a bitter laugh. The door opened with a commotion, and a nurse entered. Anastasia looked at her questioningly. "Why is it so noisy outside?"
"Its Mr. Grey bringing his girlfriend to the hospital for a check-up," the nurse explained, her cheeks flushed.
Christian had a handsome appearance and a cold temperament, yet there was something captivating about him that made it hard to look away. Anastasias heart trembled for no reason, and she bit her lips tightly, but her gaze still drifted over.
Through the small window on the door, she vaguely saw Christian carefully protecting a woman, his gaze so soft it seemed to drip with water, his affection so spoiling it was enviable.
She recognized the woman at once. It was Isabelle.
Isabelle was very beautiful, like a movie star, with an indescribable charm in every gesture. Anastasia thought that the reason Christian cherished her so much was perhaps because of her stunning looks.
Anastasia frowned, feeling an indescribable restlessness in her heart. No wonder Christian came to the hospital at this time; it was to accompany Isabelle.
Anastasia felt a pang in her heart as if a thorn had taken root there, hurting every time she saw Christian. Late at night, she had just fallen asleep when she heard footsteps outside her door and sensed a pair of eyes watching her.
Anastasia jolted awake, her clothes damp with sweat. She turned her head and saw Christian standing at the door, his face dark and brooding as he stared at her. His slender eyes flickered with fire.
His expression seemed to want to devour her alive, and Anastasia was frightened by his gaze, swallowing hard. "What are you doing here?"
Christians throat bobbed as he approached her, his long fingers clamping onto her chin, his touch cold, forcing her to meet his gaze. His voice was hoarse as he demanded, "Anastasia, have you ever deceived me?"
His sudden question startled Anastasia, but she answered truthfully, "No."
She loved Christian so deeply that she would have bared her entire heart to him, how could she deceive him?
His sharp eyes scrutinized her face as if trying to see through her very soul. Then he let out a mirthless laugh, self-mocking as he said, "Its just me overthinking. A woman like you..."
His words trailed off, but they were filled with disdain.
Perhaps it was the disdain in his voice that made Anastasia uncomfortable, or maybe it was his attitude that made her feel bad. Whenever she encountered Christian, she felt uneasy all over!
Christian released her chin, and when he looked at her again, his eyes had returned to their usual indifference. He spoke coldly, "Anastasia, if I find out youve deceived me, I wont let you off easily!"
He left after throwing out the warning, but it left Anastasia feeling chilled.
In the following days, the nurses were all gossiping about Christian.
"Mr. Grey is really good to his girlfriend, accompanying her to the hospital every day."
"Hes willing to put work aside for his girlfriend; I want a boyfriend like that in the future!"
Anastasia, her face pale, leaned against the head of the bed, listening to the nurses chatter, feeling as if her heart had suddenly gone empty.
She was Christians wife in name only. After the car accident and the loss of her child, Christian hadnt even bothered to look at her. Yet, he was by another womans side every day. How ridiculous!
One afternoon, Anastasia woke up from her nap to see the beautifully dressed Isabelle.
Her face was painted with exquisite makeup, her eyes captivating, and she walked in on high heels.
This wasnt the first time Anastasia had seen Isabelle, but she was still as stunning as ever, making Anastasia feel envious of her beauty even as a woman.
Lying on the hospital bed, Anastasias face was pale and bloodless, while Isabelles was rosy and confident. In front of her, Anastasia felt like a speck of dust on the ground, too insignificant to be noticed.
It made Anastasia feel more inferior than ever before.
"Long time no see," Isabelle said with a bright smile, her lips curving up as if showing off.
Anastasia felt a pain in her throat, as if something was blocking her chest, making it hard to breathe.
"I dont want to see you; get out right now," Anastasia said hoarsely, not looking at Isabelles face.
Isabelles expression didnt change; she pulled up a chair and sat by the bed, taking out a document from her bag and handing it to Anastasia. "I know you dont want to see me, but I cant help it; its Christian who sent me. He doesnt want to see you, not even for this divorce agreement. If you sign it, Ill make sure Christian fulfills your requests as much as possible."
Her smile was blooming, and her words couldnt hide the intimacy between her and Christian. When mentioning Christian, her eyes were full of pride and confidence, as if she were a child who had stolen candy.
Anastasias chest ached as if a large rock was blocking it, making it hard to catch her breath.
Isabelle looked at Anastasias expression and continued, "You know why Christian married you, right?"
Anastasias body stiffened, and it seemed as if all the blood in her body had coagulated.
Of course, she was clear. If it werent for... Christian would never have been willing to marry her.
Isabelle stood up, her eyes fixed on Anastasia, and said sarcastically, "If it werent for you agreeing to transplant a kidney to me, do you really think Christian would have been willing to marry you? Your marriage to Christian was stolen by you, and now that Im back, you should return Christian to me."
Her words were sharp, hitting Anastasia like a bullet.
"Now that Im back, you should return Christian to me."
Anastasias face turned pale instantly, and her arms trembled uncontrollably.
Two years ago, Christian had suddenly approached her, saying he wanted to marry her.
At the graduation party, when Christian spoke on stage, she fell in love with him at first sight, vowing to become his wife.
Now that Christian took the initiative to find her, she agreed without hesitation.
The reason Christian married her was for a kidney...
