Lily Thompson had been missing for a week.
Thinking of this hateful woman, Ethan Hunter could no longer contain his emotions and began to smash everything in sight, even pushing many important documents scattered on the ground, in a chaotic mess.
Now, even if he didnt want to believe it, he had to start suspecting that something dangerous might have really happened to Lily.
He stopped this thought, he hadnt avenged enough yet; that woman couldnt have something happen to her!
"Cancel all the afternoon appointments, Im going out," Ethan said to his assistant, then left with a stern face. The assistant, left behind, sighed helplessly and began to pick up the documents from the floor.
After leaving the company, Ethan drove straight to Lilys parents house.
He never used to bring personal emotions into his work, but now he was distracted by a woman, unable to do the most basic work well. He must be crazy!
Lilys mother opened the door for Ethan, her impatient expression changing instantly when she saw who it was. She fawningly welcomed him in.
"Ethan, why are you here? Has that unfilial daughter of ours caused you trouble again?" Lilys father, upon seeing Ethan, looked worried, fearing that Lily might have done something to anger him.
"Lily has been missing for a week."
Her father immediately became angry, "That good-for-nothing, knowing youre busy with work and still causing you trouble!"
Her mother also put on a bitter face, her tone full of gloating: "She doesnt stay at home and behaves like a hoyden, if she dies outside, it serves her right! Ethan, dont worry about her."
Lilys parents never liked their eldest daughter since she was a child; they only favored their younger, sweet-talking daughter.
After Snow Thompsons accident, Lilys parents originally wanted to send Lily to prison. Whether or not Lily was responsible for Snows death, they felt it had something to do with her.
Later, they didnt send her to prison, not out of reluctance, but because they werent willing to let Lily off the hook so easily!
They wanted to torment Lily within sight, making sure she never escaped the condemnation of her conscience for the rest of her life.
When they later found out that the great president of Qi Company wanted to marry Lily, they were shocked. They initially wanted to refuse the marriage because they wanted to see their daughter, who had been evading justice, get her comeuppance, not live a happy life.
"Even if she dies outside, its her own fault. She had a good life and insisted on making trouble!"
"Ethan, its because youve spoiled her too much in daily life, which has led to her bad habits."
Lilys parents kept blaming Lily, and in Ethans view, they seemed to wish that Lily had died outside.
For some reason, Ethans heart suddenly ached. He interrupted the endless words of Lilys parents and said coldly, "I have something else to do, Im leaving first."
He couldnt imagine what life was like for that woman at home, whether she faced her parents mockery and ridicule every day.
Even if he didnt want to admit it, he had to acknowledge that what he did was no different from Lilys parents. He used Snows death to punish Lily, and capriciously tortured that always quiet and obedient woman.
Sitting in the car, burying his face in his hands and closing his eyes.
