The words were humble to the extreme, yet to Edward Cullen, they sounded absurd. The contemptuous smile in his eyes hurt her just the same. "You are the most confident and shameless woman I have ever met. The phrase wishful thinking is perfectly embodied in you."
With that, Edward released her, as if he had touched something unclean, and turned on the faucet to wash his hands.
Bella watched as he despised her presence so much that he washed it away, feeling cold all over. Three days later, at ten oclock at night, Bella drank a cup of milk brought up by the nanny and began to experience abdominal cramps. The pain was intermittent, as if her internal organs were being stirred together.
Bella lay in bed, her head becoming increasingly heavy, unable to get up. There was an emergency button on the bedside table, which she pressed many times, but no one came.
"Help! Someone, please come!" Bella was in so much pain that she barely had the strength to call out, and her consciousness was fading, feeling as if she had been forced to sleep by a sedative.
Suddenly, a warm flow surged from her lower body, and Bella shouted in terror, "Help! Someone, please help me!"
After calling out more than ten times, no one came.
Bella couldnt sit still any longer, reaching to turn on the light, only to find darkness.
At this moment, there was a power outage.
She suddenly remembered the words Catherine Earnshaw had said to her a few days ago, and her mind buzzed.
Could this be another premeditated act?
Before she could finish her thought, a hand with the scent of medicine forcefully covered her mouth.
"Mmm... Mmm..."
In the dark night, she couldnt see who it was, only knowing there was more than one person.
She was unable to resist or struggle, her body weak, and eventually, she gradually lost consciousness.
At the Cullen Enterprises building, in his office, Edward had just finished a shareholders meeting, his head aching.
These shareholders only used his grandfathers will to force him to hand over control.
The desk phone rang, and Edward pressed the speakerphone button.
Charles Bingley spoke hesitantly, "Boss, Ive got Miss Swans photo, but..."
Edwards eyes darkened, "But what?"
Charles said, "But she looks... she looks very similar to someone, Boss. You should be mentally prepared."
Edward hung up the phone puzzled, then turned on his mobile phone and soon received the photo Charles had sent.
The moment he opened the photo, he was shocked.
So much so that his hand trembled, and his phone nearly fell to the floor.
After a while, he steadied his nerves and looked at the photo on his phone again.
The photo had been taken from a distance, and although the resolution was not high, the overall facial features and figure were captured.
The woman in the photo smiled sweetly, holding Atticus Finchs arm as if she were a princess, surrounded by bodyguards, walking into the revolving door of an international hotel.
And this woman looked exactly like Bella Swan!!
How could this be?!
Edward felt his mind was about to stop functioning, unable to believe his eyes. He closed the image and opened it again, but it was still the same face, the same eyes, the same smile.
After a while, he exhaled heavily.
He dialed Charless number, "What exactly is going on?"
Charless voice came through the phone, "Boss, Im not sure either. This photo was obtained at a high price from an acquaintance. Its absolutely real, and I was shocked when I got it, but my friend wouldnt deceive me."
Edward frowned, pondered for a moment, and said, "Alright, I understand."
He hung up the call, quickly got up, grabbed his coat from the chair, and took the private elevator down to the garage.
