In the dead of night, the Cullen Family study.
"Bang!"
Bella Swan, heavily pregnant, stood trembling as she looked at the shattered teacup at her feet. Edward Cullen, frowning deeply, was visibly displeased. "Who allowed you to enter? Where is the nanny?"
Bella, her head bowed and voice faltering, replied, "I... just wanted to brew some ginseng tea for you..."
In truth, she simply wished to catch a glimpse of him. With the birth of their child imminent, she knew her chances to see him would be gone. Even a single glance was precious to her.
Edwards voice was indifferent, "This is not your place." He picked up the desk phone and called the butler, "Charles, dismiss the nanny on duty tonight."
Bella, feeling guilty and anxious, blurted out, "Please dont, its my fault..."
Edwards cold gaze silenced her, and her face turned pale. "Leave," he said, hanging up the phone and returning to his work without sparing her another glance.
Bella, feeling cold all over, left the study, supporting her belly with her head down. She mocked herself for her foolish dreams; she was nothing more than a tool bought to bear children...
Inside the room, Bella picked up a red marker and marked a new cross on the calendar. There was only a month left until her due date, which meant her time to see him was running out.
Edward, when will you remember me?
The next day, early in the morning, Bella was awakened by the nanny because her large belly made it difficult for her to get up easily. "Well, youre not some fine lady, whats the fuss about a woman bought to bear children?" the nannys tone was filled with sarcasm.
Bella, suppressing her discomfort, apologized, "Im sorry, my back hurts. Whats happening?"
"The lady of the house has returned, and the boss has ordered all the servants to come out and meet her," the nanny said with annoyance.
Bella was taken aback. "What do you mean? What lady of the house?"
The nanny replied impatiently, "Of course, the woman who is going to marry the boss!"
Bella couldnt sit still. Barefoot, she rushed out. In the hall, many people had gathered, all the servants of the Cullen family were present.
Edward stood beside a woman in a blue dress, who was leaning on his arm, nestled in his embrace, their intimacy undeniable. Bellas heart felt as if it had been stabbed.
It was indeed her, Catherine Earnshaw, Edwards first love who had been studying in Italy.
Catherine looked over and scrutinized Bella. "Edward, is this the woman you found to bear your child?"
Edward nodded, his voice calm, "Yes, once the child is born, it will be registered under your name."
Hearing this, Bella couldnt help but tremble, her hands clenching tight.
Catherine immediately leaned into Edward, tears welling up in her eyes. "Im so sorry... Its my fault for not being able to bear you a child."
Edward held her close, his voice gentle. "Its not your fault. If it werent for you taking that bullet for me, you wouldnt have lost your womb. Its me whos at fault."
Watching them being affectionate, Bella felt cold all over.
But...
It was her who took that bullet for him, wasnt it?
