"The night was as tranquil as could be, with silver moonlight casting a serene glow over the Moore Familys imposing villa, which stood like a castle in the quiet of the evening."
Today was a day of great celebration for the Moore Family, with a wedding ceremony that was both grand and ostentatious. Yet, on the brides face, there was not a trace of joy. For she was married not to a stranger, but to the man who was supposed to become her brother-in-law, Ethan Moore.
Had it not been for the accident two months ago, her twin sister would not have perished because of her, and Ethan Moore would never have become her husband. Thinking of her sister, her heart ached once more.
She didnt know how much time had passed before the sound of womens laughter echoed from the adjacent room: "Ethan..."
Ethan? Was it her brother-in-law returning? Oh, no, at this moment, she should call him her husband.
Laura sat up and listened carefully to the sounds from the next room. Yes, it was him coming back.
She got out of bed and hurriedly walked out, finding the door to the adjacent room slightly ajar. The light inside was dim, perfectly casting on the two figures within. Suddenly, her mind went blank.
"Mmm... Ethan, dont do that!" the womans voice sounded again, pulling Laura back to reality.
It was him! It really was him! Tonight was their wedding night; why would he bring a woman to humiliate her?
Standing there in a daze, she felt as if the whole world had frozen. She knew she should leave at this moment, but her feet carried her step by step forward.
She couldnt believe her eyes or her ears; she wanted to go over and prove whether that was her new husband or the man her sister had loved with her life.
The door creaked open.
"Ah, Ethan, someones coming!" the woman screamed, snapping out of her ecstasy.
Ethan Moore turned to look at Laura, whose face had turned pale, and said in an extremely cold tone, "What are you doing here?"
Lauras heart shattered into pieces that could never be mended. How could he do this? How could he the sister who had passed away?
"Get out!" The cold voice, devoid of any warmth, crashed over her mercilessly.
"Ethan, dont be so fierce, youll scare me," the woman cooed, extending her slender fingertips to rest on his firm body.
Lauras eyes widened as she stared at the two people in front of her. Seeing that she did not leave, Ethan pushed the woman away without any attachment and walked up to her, saying, "What? Dont want to leave? Then do you want to stay and watch our performance?"
Laura finally spoke: "Ethan Moore, you jerk! How can you do this to my deceased sister?"
"Sister? Hehehe, are you trying to say Im sorry for your sister, or are you implying that Im sorry for you?"
"I..."
Laura clenched her fists, itching to slap him.
No matter who it was, hadnt he let them down?
Ethan extended his slender fingers to pinch her chin, his smile even colder: "What? Too embarrassed to say it? Shall I say it for you? Today is our wedding night, so you want to consummate our marriage! But Im afraid, Jennys last wish was just for me to marry you, not necessarily to consummate the marriage with you."
Consummate the marriage with him? Who would care for that? Rage burned fiercely in Lauras heart.
The air seemed to be sucked out, making even breathing heavy. The woman next to them broke the silence between them: "Ethan, dont talk to her so much, come here!"
Laura glanced at the woman and took a deep breath, saying, "Ethan Moore! Dont push it too far. And dont think that just because I married you, Im at your mercy for humiliation. Let me tell you, a cornered dog will jump over a wall, and a rabbit, when pushed, will bite!"
"Is that so?" Ethan suddenly grabbed her hair in anger and pinned her against the wall: "Id like to see how you bite!"
"You..." Lauras face turned red with anger, unknowingly adding a touch of charm to her appearance.
Ethan glanced at the woman next to him and suddenly changed his tone with a smile: "You wont leave, probably because you want to serve me personally! Since thats the case, as your husband, how can I neglect my wife?" With that, he pulled her into his arms.
The unexpected move left Laura stunned as if she had been struck by lightning, unable to gather her wits: "Ethan... Ethan Moore... what are you doing?"
