Shannon found herself drenched and bound on the execution ground, with a sea of pointing fingers and murmuring voices beneath her. "Alas, the Smith family, a lineage of heroes for centuries, has produced a dud," someone lamented. Another remarked, "Dont even mention it, this waste has the audacity to attempt to assassinate the Emperor!"
Her head was heavy, but at the mention of the assassination, Shannon jolted awake, her body tensing and causing her wounds to throb with pain. Assassinate the Emperor? Her people, the Wizardry, had never interfered in politics, hidden away in their secret realms for generations. Why would they?
Commoners naturally feared the power of the Wizardry, so no one would provoke them, and the Wizardry had no desire to be tainted by the mundane worlds violent energy. They remained secluded, a place of鍚戝線 for mortals, yet untouched.
When the Wizardry was invaded, Shannon had just faced the enemy. Her royal parents were harmed by traitors to protect her, and she, on the run, had fallen into a coma.
Shannon looked around in disbelief, just in time to see a man with a sinister grin revealing his teeth, his cheeks jiggling with the motion, making her feel nauseous and she quickly averted her gaze.
On the high platform, a man and a woman stood with the light behind them, their faces obscured. The man raised his hand and declared loudly, "Carry out the execution!"
"Wait!" Shannon bit her silver teeth, her voice hoarse and frightening, her mind almost exploding with chaotic memories.
The woman descended from the platform, a long whip wrapped in leather in hand, and approached Shannon with a sneer. "Humph! Whats the delay for? A waste from the generals mansion dares to plot against the Emperor; its a mercy if shes put to death!"
The Shaw family had never gotten along with the Smiths. Moreover, Shannon, a fool raised on potions, a silly and naive troublemaker, had managed to overshadow her with her bewitching face, all under the protection of the generals mansion. Now that the old general was away, and Shannon had committed a grave offense by injuring the Emperor, although the Emperor, considering the familys merits, had no intention of executing her, a public punishment was inevitable. She wanted to see who could save her now!
Anran Shaw swung her hand down at Shannon with full force, the whip cracking through the air, intending to leave a mark that would make death seem preferable.
Shannon narrowed her eyes. As a princess of the Wizardry, she possessed supernatural powers that surpassed those of ordinary people, and no one had ever dared to call her a waste in her presence!
With a gentle lift of her palm, the shackles that could hold a commoner were no match for the Wizardry. Just as she was about to fight back, Anrans whip had already flown past.
A familiar figure landed on the execution platform, face full of anxiety. "Miss! Are you alright?"
Shannon didnt recognize this person, but hearing her call out caused a sudden, sharp pain in her brain. Snow quickly supported her, and after a while, a set of unfamiliar yet stimulating memories appeared in her mind.
This! She had taken over someone elses body in spirit form!
Shannon, Miss Smith...
A foolish waste, a sudden outbreak, an assassination attempt on the Emperor...
A series of shocking memories flooded into her mind, and all she could hear was Snows panicked shouting.
This was already the world two hundred years later.
Snow had grown up with the original owner of this body, and now Shannon found herself in this strange place. Seeing Snow, her unease lessened slightly.
Snow looked at Shannons clear eyes and was taken aback; it was the same face, but the change in the eyes was striking.
Snow felt a mix of emotions, and the words caught in her throat almost escaped. She turned her head and forcibly swallowed them: "Miss, youre not foolish anymore! The general would be so pleased!"
The handsome man on the high platform watched this scene, his lips curving slightly as he descended gracefully onto the execution ground, hands behind his back, looking down at Shannon with a condescending gaze. His face was breathtaking, and even in such a place, it couldnt hide the pride that emanated from him. His deep eyes faintly rested on Shannon, as if covered by a thin fog, making them inscrutable.
Shannon frowned, meeting his gaze. She didnt like this look, arrogant and proud, as if he was looking at her, Shannon, but still saw no one.
She even felt relieved when Adrian shifted his gaze to Snow.
"How dare you, people from the generals mansion, are you planning a rebellion?"
Snow stood in front of Shannon, facing the mans sharp gaze, and said calmly, "Your Highness, today I must take Miss away, and Snow will come back another day to accept the punishment on behalf of Miss!"
Without waiting for a response, she took Shannons hand and turned to leave the execution ground.
Suddenly, a tremendous pressure, like a giant hand, pulled them both backward, and Shannon and Snow suddenly stopped.
Adrian had somehow flown to their side, gently waved his hand, and exerted his internal strength, causing Snow to fly several meters away and fall heavily to the ground, spitting out blood with a pu sound.
"Snow!" Shannons pupils shrank, and out of the bodys instinct, she hurriedly called out.
As she was about to run over, Adrians large hand directly grasped Shannons throat, slowly tightening, his voice as cold as a deep, cold pool: "Trying to escape?"
So strong!
Although he was a mortal, his internal strength was profound. He seemed young but contained tremendous power.
Cold sweat dripped from Shannons forehead as she secretly tried to use her spiritual power, only to be shocked to find that her forces were in disarray and could not be used normally!
She almost forgot, this was not her original body, and the power brought by the soul alone could not resist the suppression of mortals?!
Shannon was anxious, but her mind unusually calmed down: Snow called the man in front of her His Highness, indicating an extraordinary identity, and with her current inability to exert her witchcraft normally, she was no match for this man. If she fought hard, she might suffer a loss...
Her eyes flashed, and she clenched her fists: "Your Highness, this matter is caused by me alone, please spare my maid, and I, Yueqing, am willing to bear all the responsibilities!"
"Oh?" The man narrowed his eyes and smiled lightly, "Can you afford it?"
Before Shannon could reply, Adrian suddenly retracted his hand, performed light work, and gracefully flew back to the main seat of the high platform, propping his head with his left hand, and waved his hand: "Execution, continue!"
The people below saw the rescuer of the law field being easily subdued by their wise and mighty His Highness, and their hanging hearts were put at ease. They started pointing at Shannon again.
"Daring to openly hijack the law field! The Smiths are too lawless!"
"The master and servant are all cast from the same mold, each one is a waste!"
"Hahaha, the Smiths have lost face greatly this time!"
"Your Highness, punish them both! Its a disaster to keep them alive!"
