Love's Unspoken Longing

"You bastard, let me go." Ethan Mitchell disregarded the pleas of the woman before him, attempting to undress her with brute force.

The result was a slap from Lucy Chen.

"Isnt this what you wanted when you married me?" Ethan questioned.

Lucy was speechless; his words were like a sword, piercing her heart.

"Ive told you, Lucy, for five years weve tormented each other, tied together, and I dont love you."

"Stop, I dont want to hear it." Lucy closed her eyes tightly, her hands covering her ears. She thought she could warm his heart and bring them closer, but she forgot that he was Ethan Mitchell, the man whose heart and eyes only held love for Jenny Chen!

Ethan sneered, "Do you think I would be grateful and fall in love with you just because you donated a kidney to Olivia?"

"But why did you agree to marry me?" Lucys closed eyes snapped open.

"I agreed to marry you, but I never promised to love you." Ethan mocked.

"But I love you; I would go mad without you." Lucy tried to express her sincerity as much as possible.

"Love me? Lucy, listen carefully, I will never fall in love with a despicable woman like you!" Ethan stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

With the loud bang of the door, Lucy felt as if she had been pushed into an abyss.

She understood that she could never compare to Jenny Chen鈥攖he orphan her father brought home since childhood.

Little did anyone know that at 16, Lucy fell in love with Ethan, the 18-year-old cold and stern young man.

Yet, this young man fell in love with 15-year-old Olivia, who had bright eyes and a lovely smile.

Olivia also adored Ethan, and due to her poor health since childhood, she received not only the love of her family but also Ethans care, which gradually blossomed into love.

Everything changed five years ago when Olivias kidneys began to fail.

Lucys grandfather, heartbroken for his granddaughter, privately threatened Ethan; she would donate her kidney to save Olivia, and in return, he would marry Lucy!

The phone rang, and Lucy answered, "Your grandfathers condition has worsened; come to Cedar City Hospital quickly."

The phone slipped from Lucys hand and fell to the ground with a "thud."

She rushed to the hospital, praying all the way that her grandfather would be fine.

When she arrived at the hospital, the doctor hung his head and said, "Im sorry, we did our best. If you have anything to say to the elderly, hurry up and tell him."

Lucy looked at the old man lying on the bed, his face haggard, and choked out in a pale complexion, "Grandpa."

The old man slowly opened his eyes, "My precious granddaughter is here..."

"Grandpa, dont leave. What will Lucy do without you?" Tears welled up in Lucys eyes, trembling.

"Silly child, you still have him, and other family members." The old man spoke laboriously, word by word.

"But in this world, only Grandpa loves me the most. I dont want Grandpa to leave." Lucys emotions spiraled out of control, and she burst into tears.

"People eventually have to part. Grandpa is old and tired." The old mans voice grew weaker and weaker.

"I dont want to, I wont listen." Lucy shook her head, crying in sorrow.

The old mans eyes began to redden; he too wanted to hold his precious granddaughter once more, but his hand, before it could touch her, froze into eternity.

Lucy wailed, shaking the old man, "Grandpa, Grandpa, wake up, dont sleep..."
