Scarlett OHara woke up with a throbbing headache, feeling as though she had been run over by a truck. The tenderness between her legs was a burning reminder of the night before. The deep, rich voice of a man interrupted her thoughts, offering a bowl of hangover soup.
"Drink the soup first," he said, and Scarlett looked up to see the man from the night before, now only wearing a bathrobe.
Her heart skipped a beat. Had last night been real? Had she really slept with a man she had just met?
The man noticed her staring and raised an eyebrow. "Planning on running away without taking responsibility?"
"What?" Scarlett was confused. Wasnt she supposed to be the one asking for responsibility?
She hadnt blacked out from drinking, and she remembered every detail of the night before. She recalled how skillful the man had been, how she had pleaded for mercy, and how her throat was now dry and hoarse from the nights exertions.
"You should drink this," the man said, hearing the rasp in her voice. "After youve drunk it, we can sit down and talk about us."
Scarlett wasnt feeling very mobile, but she wasnt one to be coy either. They had done everything they were supposed to and What not to do, and she had been quite enthusiastic in her drunken state. She took the bowl of soup without hesitation.
"The bathroom has new clothes that I bought. See if they fit. If not, Ill have my assistant get more," the man said, fastening the cufflinks of his shirt.
Scarlett didnt move, just lay there staring at the man who was now openly changing his clothes in front of her.
"Too tired to move?" the man asked, his voice soft as he approached the bed.
Scarlett simply hummed in response, then said, "If you have something to do, you should go ahead. Ill check out by myself when I wake up."
She was about to lie back down when a sudden thought made her sit up abruptly.
"Did you use protection last night?"
The man raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eye. "No."
Scarlett cursed under her breath and reached for her phone to order some emergency contraception.
Seeing her search for medication, the mans expression darkened. "Do you not understand the relationship between us?"
Scarlett laughed, "What relationship could we possibly have? What, you actually want me to be responsible for you? Dont tell me youre a virgin with the skills you showed last night."
"If I said I was?" the man replied without missing a beat.
Scarlett was taken aback. "What?" It was impossible, it didnt exist, he was lying!
"I always wanted to save myself for my wife, but what happened last night doesnt need much explanation, does it?"
Scarlett knew exactly what had happened last night. They had barely entered the room when she had taken the initiative, and then...
She decided not to think about it.
"So, youre planning on sleeping with me and then running away without taking responsibility?" the mans face was too serious, and his appearance too upright for her to consider that he might be a liar.
"Im not, I didnt, dont say that..." she had no strength in her voice.
"Alright then, at two oclock this afternoon, bring your birth certificate and meet me at the County Clerks Office."
