"Elizabeth Bennet, Ive seen despicable people, but Ive never seen someone as despicable as you!" Jay Gatsbys voice cut through the air like a sharp winter wind, jolting Lizzy awake. She sat up abruptly, her surroundings unfamiliar and cold.
"Jay, where are we?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"Ha, Lizzy Bennet, your acting skills were mediocre when you graduated from college, but it seems that in the years since marrying me, theyve improved remarkably!" Gatsby tossed a thin booklet at her and continued with his sarcasm, "Mrs. Gatsby, this is the Apollo Club, the place with the best-looking and strongest men in town. You certainly have good taste."
Lizzys mind was a whirlwind of confusion as she opened the booklet. The words "Apollo Club" jumped out at her, and she looked around, her face turning pale instantly.
She had gone to bed in her own home last night; why was she here now? Something was definitely wrong.
Lizzy looked at him with panicked eyes, "Jay, I didnt do anything! I dont know why Im here. You have to believe me!"
She had been feeling off lately, ever since Jay had accompanied her sister, Daisy Buchanan, to the hospital. She had been waking up in strange places, and it was driving her to the brink of a breakdown.
Gatsby looked at Lizzy coldly, his eyes filled with boundless anger, "Lizzy Bennet, how long do you plan to keep up this act? I never thought youd be such a fickle woman. I should never have agreed to marry you just because of Grandpas request, causing me to miss out on so many years with Daisy!"
Lizzy was stunned by his words, unable to think of what to say, and could only shake her head with tears in her eyes.
She had been switched at birth due to the negligence of the medical staff and was only found by the Bennet family when she was eighteen.
The Bennet and Gatsby families had an early engagement, and although Jay Gatsby disagreed, he still married her at the request of Grandpa Gatsby...
She had always known that Jay loved Daisy, but she didnt mind. She believed that once she married him, he would see her virtues. But why was it still like this?
"I really dont know whats going on. There must be someone manipulating this. You have to get to the bottom of it..." Lizzy clutched his hand tremulously, pleading, "Jay, I love you, I wouldnt..."
"Stop touching me! Youre filthy!" Gatsby shook her off without hesitation, his face full of disgust. "Just looking at you now makes me sick! A woman like you is unworthy to be my wife!"
He took out his phone and made a call, his eyes dark and threatening, "Take Lucy to Soul Manor, and from now on, without my permission, Mrs. Gatsby is not allowed to see her!"
These words were like explosives, shattering Lizzys insides and leaving her bleeding.
Soul Manor was no ordinary place; it was the Gatsby familys secret punishment chamber!
Ignoring her own pain, Lizzy ran after Jay, "No! Jay, you cant do this. Lucy is still young, shes your daughter... you cant do this!"
Gatsby suddenly stopped, coldly throwing out a sentence, "Its you, Lizzy Bennet, who has caused so many tragedies, so you deserve all of this!"
