Exhausted from her tears, Daisy Buchanan managed to pull herself together and left the Astor Manor with her head down, returning to her room. She glanced at the calendar and realized she had been living with the Finch family for more than half a month. Unwillingly, she thought of her family, her mother.
These troubled days had made her neglect to call home. Especially her mother鈥攕he didnt want to worry her, so she hadnt reached out. But she hadnt expected that her mother wouldnt call her either.
Feeling something was amiss, Daisy composed herself and dialed her mothers number.
"Sorry, the number you dialed cannot be connected!"
Daisy was bewildered. After double-checking the number, she tried again, only to encounter the same message.
How could this be? Her mother had been using the same number for almost a decade without any issues.
Immediately, Daisy grabbed her bag and rushed out of the Finch residence, heading straight for her family home.
But soon, she discovered that her mother was missing!
She searched all the places her mother frequented, to no avail. When she called her mothers friends, she learned that no one had seen her since the day of the wedding.
For some reason, the first person Daisy thought of was Atticus Finch.
Frantic, she stormed into Atticuss office.
"Where is my mother?!" she demanded.
The wedding, built on his deception, had taken place, and then her mother disappeared鈥攊t couldnt be a coincidence! Her mothers disappearance had to be related to him!
In fact, it was related to Atticus.
He had noticed it earlier. He knew it was the old mans contingency plan to force him to marry Catherine Genovese, but he wouldnt be manipulated so easily.
However, he was not yet strong enough to confront the old man. As for Daisys mother, he had only received some information and hadnt found her yet. He was secretly searching with all his might.
He hadnt told Daisy to avoid worrying her, but he didnt expect her to find out so soon.
But why did she use such a harsh tone to question him, as if he were the villain who had kidnapped her mother? In her heart, was he that despicable?
"I havent seen your mother, how should I know where she is!" Atticus retorted, unable to suppress his anger.
Daisy was taken aback. She found herself increasingly unable to understand Atticus Finch. He had not only become despicable but also irritable and heartless.
What else could there be between them now? What qualifications did she have to question him?
But her mother... Daisy had no choice but to soften her attitude: "My mother is missing, can you help me find her? I know you can find her, please!"
She was pleading now!
But what Atticus wanted was not her pleading but her trust!
She didnt go to others, she came straight to him to ask for people, and said he must be able to find it. Her meaning was actually very clear, she thought her mother was in his hands. Otherwise, she should have called the police directly.
"Alright, I can help you look for people, but how are you going to plead with me?" Atticus was furious. This woman had never trusted him. If that was the case, he wouldnt be the bad guy to spoil her good intentions.
Atticus stood up, locked the office door, and pushed Daisy onto the desk.
"Youre not going to cooperate a bit since youre pleading with me?"
This time, he was so angry that he went straight in without sparing her.
It hurt her so much that she was shaking all over, biting her red lips and swallowing the blood, silently bearing the storm.
In order to find her mother, she had to endure all the pain and humiliation.
Finally, Daisy left the company with trembling legs and in a very embarrassed state. It was the first time she knew that love affairs were not always pleasant, they could also be so painful and hard to endure.
But her abdomen began to ache faintly, and in the end, it hurt so much that she couldnt walk. Daisy had no choice but to go to the hospital.
But she didnt expect that she was pregnant!
Married for less than a month, and she was pregnant?
Daisy was very clear that the child could only be Atticus Finchs.
The moment she got the test report, Daisys head was dizzy. This was her and Atticuss child, but her husband was Tom Joad. What should she do? What should she do?
She wanted to keep the child, and she absolutely couldnt let Tom Joad know.
Daisy carefully put the test report away, but unfortunately, Tom Joad was also in the hospital.
"Daisy, why are you here?" Tom asked casually, but Daisy was very guilty and shook her head with a pale face, unable to say a word.
Tom frowned slightly, looked at the direction Daisy had just walked out of, and immediately understood: "Are you pregnant?"
Daisy was too innocent, and she wrote everything on her face.
At this moment, the more she denied it, the more it proved that there was a problem.
Toms face was calm, but his words were extremely cold-blooded: "If you are really pregnant, you should have an abortion. You should be very clear about how this child came about!"
Yes, he had never done that kind of thing with her, so this child could not be his.
Which husband can tolerate his wife giving birth to another mans child?
At least, he is absolutely not so generous, even if he... it doesnt matter, cant get it, then destroy it.
Tom suddenly threw his hand hard, and Daisy was thrown out without any defense, falling at the foot of the wall.
A sharp pain came, and Daisy watched her skirt dyed red, and extreme fear filled her heart. She screamed in pain: "Ah..."
Tom looked at this scene coldly and indifferently, thinking that it would be better to miscarry like this.
Fortunately, a nurse passed by and hurriedly sent Daisy to the emergency room.
