In the tranquility of Woodside, Elizabeth Bennet lay comfortably in a porch swing, her slender figure draped in a sheer wrap. Her porcelain skin shimmered under the moonlight, capturing the attention of Fitzwilliam Darcy as soon as he arrived. "This wanton woman," he thought, his gaze raking over her. "If I had come any later, would she have been sleeping naked?"
The thought of Elizabeths bare form stirred a fire within him. Darcy had intended to wake the sleeping beauty in his own assertive manner, but his low remark startled the lightly sleeping Elizabeth.
"Whos there?" she demanded, her large eyes opening to the silhouette in the moonlight. "Who are you?"
He let out a sardonic chuckle that made Elizabeths eyes widen in realization. Could it be him?
"How could you forget your dear husband after just a month apart?" Darcy approached, his handsome face illuminated by the moon. "Dear wife?"
He deliberately elongated the last two words, observing the change in Elizabeths expression from surprise to cold indifference.
"Youre back from your trip?" she frowned, as if slightly annoyed by his disturbance of her rest.
Wasnt Darcy with Jane Eyre, enjoying a vacation in Bali Island? Why had he returned so soon?
A hint of disgust flickered across Elizabeths face as she glanced at the elegant wooden house. So soon, she would have to don her armor again and leave this haven of tranquility.
Darcy perceived her thoughts and snorted disdainfully, "If it werent for the elders imminent return, I wouldnt want to see your face!"
"I didnt say I didnt want to leave."
Aware that staying would only anger the tyrant, Elizabeth decisively wrapped a large scarf around herself and stood up. "I was just thinking about work."
With that, she showed no longing for her husband, who she hadnt seen for a month, and swiftly returned inside to pack her things.
Work?
Darcys face stiffened as he watched the woman bustling about inside, shaking his head in mockery. Indeed, aside from company matters, Elizabeth Bennet would naturally have no other concerns.
A cold glint flashed through his dark eyes; she had nothing.
Elizabeth moved quickly, changing into a smart and simple work outfit and grabbing a suitcase within ten minutes.
Her severe black hairpin, long pure black trousers, striped shirt, and a small suit jacket with delicate buttons.
She was a world apart from the enchanting woman in the moonlight just moments ago.
Darcys icy gaze swept over her, and he turned his face away in disgust, "An old-fashioned relic."
Elizabeth pretended not to hear, "Has grandfather mentioned the exact day of his return?"
"This Sunday," the man replied curtly, then as if remembering something, his lips curled maliciously.
"Ah, almost forgot to tell you," he said with a profound smile, "my sister... theyre coming back too."
Elizabeths body, pulling the suitcase, halted.
Is Scarlett OHara also coming back?
Doesnt that mean... that person will also be back?
She bit her red lips awkwardly, almost forgetting how long it had been since she last saw him, if Darcy hadnt reminded her.
Seeing the pain in Elizabeths eyes, Darcys lips tightened, and his anger flared instantly.
"What are you spacing out for!" he scolded, "Get in the car quickly!"
Over the years, Elizabeth had grown accustomed to Darcys tyrannical temperament, knowing that provoking the man would be of no benefit to her.
She put away her slightly sorrowful expression and quickly transformed back into the businesswoman who fought in the商场, walking into the motorhome with her suitcase.
Following the woman, Darcys face was as dark as the night.
This damn woman. After all these years, she still thinks of rekindling old dreams with that man?
He spat viciously: Dont even think about it!
Since she had shamelessly married him, Elizabeth Bennet would not be allowed to leave this life!
The motorhome was an enlarged version, complete with a bathroom, bedroom, and conference room.
Elizabeth dragged her tired and sleepy body into the bedroom, wanting to rest a bit before working, but as soon as she opened the door, a white figure suddenly rushed out!
"Darcy, what took you so long?" A coquettish woman, wrapped in a bath towel, threw herself forward, mistaking Elizabeth for Darcy, her voice sultry and seductive.
Elizabeth immediately pushed her away, feeling a pang in her heart.
Her tone remained flat, "Youve mistaken me for someone else."
"Oh, Im sorry," the woman looked at her with unfriendly eyes, "But... who are you? Darcy promised to accompany me tonight."
Looking at her secretary-like attire, she didnt seem like the type Darcy would usually favor...
Although her features were delicately attractive upon closer inspection, her own beauty was by no means inferior to hers!
Thinking of this, the woman became assertive, "I think Darcy wouldnt want you here, so you better get off the car before he comes back!"
"I think its you who should leave," Elizabeth said calmly.
"What... what do you mean?" The woman was taken aback.
Elizabeth had seen many women like her and remained composed.
"Do you know who I am?" Elizabeth twirled a strand of her curly hair, looking down at her with pride, "I am the future Mrs. Darcy!"
Darcy was about to enter the bedroom when he heard this.
It seemed a good drama was unfolding.
The man paused, his peach blossom eyes filled with ill intent as he leaned against the bar, watching the drama unfold inside.
Having been caught red-handed, he was curious about how his usually indifferent wife would react.
Elizabeth knew who it was with just a glance, seeing the mischievous look on Darcys face.
He was watching a good show.
She sighed in understanding, "Do you have any proof that you are Mrs. Darcy?"
The woman saw no suspicion in Elizabeths demeanor and became more assertive, "Do you see this ring on my right ring finger? He personally put it on me when we got engaged!"
