Just as the needle was about to pierce Daisy Buchanans skin, Jay Gatsby walked in from outside, his eyes filled with indescribable emotions as he looked at her. Seeing Jay signal the doctor to stop, Daisy unconsciously let out a breath she hadnt realized shed been holding.
However, before she could feel any relief, Rebecca Wilson approached Jay and whispered a few words into his ear. The hint of reluctance in Jays face vanished, and his voice took on a sinister tone as he commanded, "Whats in her womb is but a debt-repayment spawn. Theres no need to waste medicine; simply extract it directly!"
The private doctor wanted to say something, but was silenced by a look from Rebecca. So, with additional chains and manpower, the doctor didnt say anything more. After all, the darkness of the wealthy is not something they can fathom.
As the cloth gag was removed from Daisys mouth, she finally found her voice: "Jay Gatsby, you said you would always protect me. Have you forgotten the promises you made to me?!"
No matter how loud her voice was, Jay seemed determined, showing no intention of changing his mind. Instead, he stood with his hands behind his back, coldly responding, "Forgotten."
The promises still rang in her ears, but the person who made them had already forgotten. Only she was still stubbornly holding onto the past, even if it meant being battered and bruised and refusing to let go.
"Jay, no! Please! Both the child and I will die..."
Daisy exerted all her strength to break free from the servants grip, falling at Jays feet, pleading with him. She could die, but not her child! It was a life she had nurtured for months!
"Die? That would be fitting, to soothe the spirit of my mother in heaven!"
Daisy stood there, stunned. She never knew he could hate her so much, to the point of wanting to end her life and that of their child in such a cruel manner!
The death of Jays mother had nothing to do with her, but no matter how many times she explained, he wouldnt believe her. Jays mother had always been kind to her, and it was also because of Jays mothers mediation that their marriage had lasted for seven months.
Why would she have any reason to harm his mother? But he insisted that she was full of lies, saying that Rebecca was much more innocent than her and wouldnt be as filthy as her, just because she didnt bleed on their wedding night.
Daisy pursed her lips, as if making a final struggle, and said, "My mother-in-laws death really has nothing to do with me. Why cant you believe me? Rebecca was there at the time, and she was closest to my mother-in-law. She..."
Before Daisy could finish her sentence, a resounding slap, carried by the wind, landed on her cheek, leaving a bright red handprint.
"Are you trying to drag others down into the mire with you, just because you are filthy?" Jay wiped his right hand, which had slapped Daisys cheek, with a handkerchief, his face full of disgust towards her.
"Sir, shall we proceed with the surgery?"
"Proceed!"
Jay clenched his teeth, squeezing out this sentence from between his teeth, then left the room with Rebecca, leaving behind the heart-wrenching screams inside the room.
