Edward Cullen approached Jane Eyre, looking at the blood flowing from her arm with an indifferent expression, as if her life or death had nothing to do with him: "Dont mention the past, it just makes me sick!"
He turned and left with Scarlett OHara, not even sparing her a glance.
Janes body suddenly shuddered.
Tears silently slid down her cheeks.
Jane looked up, staring at the two figures embracing as they walked further and further away until they disappeared from sight.
She didnt move, not knowing how long she stood there, before suddenly raising her hand to wipe away the tears on her face, standing up, and stumbling towards the outside.
The sound of the hunt was in her ears.
Jane didnt know where she was going. Her mother and sister had conspired against her, and the man she loved was going to marry someone else.
The world was vast, yet she didnt even know where to go.
There was a chaotic tearing restlessness in her chest, and it wasnt until a sweet scent rose in her throat that she stopped.
The wound on her arm throbbed with pain, and the blood had already coagulated in the wind. Many peoples gazes swept over her, but she was completely numb, walking forward.
"Beep—"
A sharp car horn sounded, followed by a mans vulgar scolding: "If you want to die, get out of the way! Bad luck!"
Janes body jolted, and she looked up in a daze. The car roared past her, and she hastily stepped back, bumping into a group of middle school students.
She turned back and realized she had arrived at the entrance of an internet café.
Jane reached into her pocket, pulled out a handful of change, hesitated for a moment, and still walked in.
After receiving the internet card, Jane found a corner with little smoke, sat down, logged onto a job search website, filled in only two conditions - high pay, daily settlement, and then applied to a few that matched her profession before closing the computer.
She had just stepped out of the internet café when her phone rang.
The caller had a very pleasant male voice: "Is this Miss Jane Eyre?"
"Speaking," Jane responded, unsure who in this city still had her number.
"Hello, I am the HR manager from Greys Entertainment. We have seen your resume and believe you are very suitable for our requirements. Are you interested?"
So quickly someone had seen her resume?
Before Jane could ask what kind of company it was, the caller continued: "Our wages are settled daily, starting at ten thousand, with a significant potential for increase based on commission."
Hearing the terms, Jane was tempted.
But such a high salary also made her suspicious. What kind of job could offer such high wages?
The caller seemed to guess her thoughts: "I will text you the address. If you are interested, you can come and take a look now."
The call was hung up.
The text message quickly arrived.
Jane stared at the address on her phone, hesitated for a long time, but still hailed a cab to Greys Entertainment.
Night fell.
The colorful splendor illuminated the city that was plunged into darkness. Through a door, people in neat attire entered and turned into elves of the night, under a mask of heavy makeup, freely and unrestrainedly composing a completely different life.
Dressed in a white shirt with buttons neatly arranged, Jane was obviously an outsider here.
She nervously clutched the corner of her shirt and walked in, and a handsome man who looked like a waiter approached: "Excuse me, are you Miss Eyre?"
"I am."
"Please follow me."
Jane followed the waiter to the door of a room, and he opened the door, gesturing for her to enter.
Dim light flowed out of the room, and Janes heart pounded with anxiety. She was having second thoughts, but just as she was about to leave, she was forcefully pushed in from behind!
