In the dead of night, moonlight streamed through the window, casting a faint glow amidst the dense darkness.
Edward Cullen sneered coldly at the delicate form beneath him, his eyes as frigid as frost. He leaned down, whispering into her ear, "Jane Eyre, you came to me willingly, whats with the act of innocence?" His hands brutally gripped her arms, soon leaving a circle of purple bruises. "I loved you so much, I nearly lost the ability to stand to save you. But what did you do? You took all my money and left with another man."
"I didnt."
The physical pain nearly drained Jane of her strength; she struggled to part her already cracked lips. "I didnt leave with another man, nor did I take your money. It was my mother who took me abroad, she took my ID and passport..."
"Enough!"
In Edwards eyes was a chill colder than a winter night. "Do you really think Id believe your excuses? I saw you leave with him with my own eyes, what more is there to argue?"
"Its not like that, Edward, please listen to me..."
Edward looked at her suddenly pale face, at the beads of sweat trickling down her cheeks. That once deeply infatuating face had heartlessly pushed him into the abyss when he was at his most desperate.
Fueled by rage, he exerted himself again, and through the night, Janes voice became terribly hoarse.
When she awoke, Edward was no longer by her side.
It was unknown how much time had passed before she struggled to sit up on the bed, staggering as she got out of it.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling window was her body, mottled with bruises of red and purple, yet for Jane, such physical pain was far from matching the agony within her heart.
These past two years, she had been searching for a chance to return to his side. Just yesterday, she had finally stolen her ID and passport, returned to her homeland with hope in her heart, only to be met with relentless humiliation and torment.
Jane bent down to pick up her clothes scattered on the floor.
She needed to find Edward and clarify everything.
Jane pushed open the bedroom door and hurried out, not even noticing there was someone in the living room.
"Jane Eyre."
The familiar female voice made her steps falter.
She turned her head, looking at the woman sitting on the sofa, who bore a slight resemblance to her own face, in disbelief: "Scarlett OHara?"
Jane felt as if lightning had struck her forehead, shattering her skull into pieces that fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
Her sister, whom she hadnt seen in two years, was actually at Edward Cullens home. Jane felt as if she was still trapped in a dream, unable to wake up.
But Scarlett spoke up, her voice undeniable: "Sister, long time no see."
It was really her!
Scarlett sneered, stood up, and walked to her: "I didnt expect that after two years, youve finally returned to the country. What brings you to find Edward, is it to celebrate our upcoming wedding?"
Wedding? What wedding?
Seeing Janes expression as if struck by lightning, Scarlett feigned astonishment, covering her mouth with her hand, but unable to hide the smirk in her eyes.
"How come, sister, you dont know that Edward and I are getting married next month?"
