Love Like Quicksand

On the disheveled large bed, I lay there, numb and unresponsive. My body seemed to have a will of its own, making me feel like an empty shell devoid of soul.

The room was filled with a sticky, cloying scent, and I was long accustomed to what had just transpired.

Closing my eyes, an exhaustion that seeped from my bones left me motionless, yet the uncomfortable stickiness on my skin made me yearn for a hot shower. But in reality, I couldnt do anything.

My wrists were shackled to the headboard, leaving me no freedom to move.

To do anything, I needed the approval of the master of the house—Luke Grant.

Occasionally, Luke would show a moment of mercy and have the maids help me wash and change clothes. More often, he would leave me on the bed, neglected for the entire day.

Ive lost track of how long Ive been living this way.

Since childhood, I had a crush on Luke, seeing him as my knight in shining armor. I thought I was his princess, and that we would live happily ever after like in a fairy tale.

But soon, I realized how wrong I was.

Instead of the blissful marriage I had imagined, it felt as if I had entered hell.

After enduring a series of humiliations from Luke, I sadly came to a realization—

I had been imprisoned in this house by Luke, with no idea when I would see the light of day again.

At first, I didnt understand why Luke was treating me this way, so I asked him directly.

"Why... why are you doing this to me?"

Back then, I still hoped that Luke would smile gently at me and tell me, "Its just a joke, did it scare you?"

Such a joke seems absurd, right? Yet, I naively held onto that unrealistic thought, which now seems quite ridiculous.

I finally understood that torturing me had always been part of Lukes plan.

"After all these years... Sarah Collins, you probably never knew that my father was killed by your father." Lukes voice was soft, but his words plunged me into an abyss.

Sarah and Luke had grown up together, and of course, Sarah knew how devastating her fathers death had been for Luke. But... she never imagined that this incident was connected to her own father!

And from the deep hatred in Lukes eyes, I could clearly see that he wasnt lying... at least, thats what he believed.

This realization was a huge blow to me. So... all the kindness Luke had shown me over the years was fake? His tenderness was just a ruse to lull me into a false sense of security, so he could naturally carry out his revenge after marriage?

I didnt know how to argue, and he wouldnt listen anyway. Moreover, I couldnt leave this room, so I could only endure all the pain in silence. But now, I finally couldnt bear this life any longer.

I didnt want to stay in this dim room all day, facing the indifferent Luke and the maids. This kind of life made me feel endless pain and humiliation.

So after this madness ended, my gaze was fixed on Luke.

Seeing that he had already dressed and was about to leave, I quickly called out to him: "Luke."

Lukes steps paused, but he didnt turn around.

"Lets get a divorce..." My voice sounded really weak. Just now, Lukes strength could be described as barbaric, but as long as I cried out in pain, it would only result in his rougher movements.
