Love Beyond Dawn

In a luxurious villa on the outskirts of Seattle, the scent of blood slowly filled the bathroom, chilling the air. Jane Eyres body temperature was dropping as she struggled to lift the phone that had been placed by the bathtub, dialing a number she knew by heart.

With the last of her strength, she whispered, "Edward Cullen."

"Didnt I tell you not to bother me?" The voice on the other end was filled with disgust, the deep, cold tone laced with mockery. "Speak quickly, Im busy."

Janes hand trembled as she held the phone, her heart aching as if pierced by a long needle, her breath quivering with pain.

She brought a photo frame close to her face, a wedding photo where a bright-smiling woman leaned against the man next to her, his face showing clear irritation and impatience.

She should have noticed his indifference and distance earlier.

"Its just... I wanted to hear your voice," she said, her voice barely audible as her strength waned.

A womans coquettish voice came from the other end, calling Edwards name softly. The sickly sweet sound sent a shiver down Janes spine, followed by Edwards voice, filled with affection, "Be good, Ill be with you in a moment."

This was her husband, and in the moment of her impending death, he was entwined with another woman.

To him, she was merely a tool within reach.

Why did she love such a man? So tired, really too exhausted...

"Had enough? Then dont bother me anymore!"

Was it enough? Probably, from now on, she would never have to hear it again...

Consciousness fading, the phone slipped from her ear and fell into the pool of water with a muffled "plop."

The photo frame fell to the ground, the clear sound of shattering glass echoing in the bathroom, the crack running right between the couple in the photo.

"Ha ha." Jane let out a laugh of ambiguous meaning, tears streaming down her face and falling into the blood-red pool of water, blending into the love that never received a response, despair entwining as it fell into the abyss.

She took one last look at the pure white tiles on the ceiling, a fierce and relieved smile appearing at the corner of her pale lips, and quietly left the world that had caused her such heartache...

Consciousness fluctuating, the sharp ringing in her ears gradually disappeared, and Jane frowned and slowly opened her eyes, only to find herself lying at the entrance of her home.

"Whats going on..." Jane was stunned for a moment, struggling to sit up, her expression somewhat dazed.

Wasnt she dead? Why was she here?

Thousands of thoughts surged in her heart, yet no conclusions could be drawn.

The despair that had been slipping away still lingered in her heart, and Jane looked down at her arm, which had no scratches, tears falling from her eyes uncontrollably.

In the end, she didnt wait for Edward Cullen.

Sitting on the floor, lost and forlorn, Jane suddenly heard a familiar voice that made her whole body tremble: "Claire, I love you, dont leave me again, okay?"

Janes face turned pale in an instant, and she quickly looked up to see two figures sitting on the sofa in the hall not far away.

Because of the angle, no one noticed Jane sitting on the floor.

She was at a loss and her heart was pounding.

These words... clearly what Edward said after meeting Claire Randall who had just returned from abroad two years ago, drunk and asking her to take him home!

Why, why would she see such a scene again? Was it an illusion or a dream caused by her unbearable pain?

Her body moved uncontrollably, Jane breathing heavily, her heart about to jump out of her throat.

"What are you doing!"

Was it a hallucination or a dream? Jane said the same words as two years ago.

Edward, holding Claire in his arms, paused for a moment, but his expression remained indifferent: "What Im doing... dont you know?"

That familiar speech and indifferent expression made Janes heart throb painfully.

Her gaze trembled as she glanced at the electronic clock on the wall, which displayed the day two years ago when she first saw Claire.

Something exploded in her head, and Jane looked at the two people entwined on the sofa in a daze and shock. Could it be that she... went back two years?

"Sorry, Edward is drunk, Im just taking him home, Ill leave now..." Claire, red-faced, struggled out of Edwards arms and got up to leave.

This woman had been in Edwards heart for ten years, she was the cinnabar in his heart, and also the treasure that could never be touched.

Jane had always known that she couldnt compare to this woman.

The person leaving his arms made Edwards heart tighten, and he reflexively pulled her back, glaring at Jane with anger.

"Who told you to force her to leave!"

In a trance, Jane suddenly remembered that she had naively thought Edward was out of control due to drunkenness and believed that there was nothing between him and Claire.

But now that she thought about it carefully, Edward was a person who would maintain three points of rationality even when drunk, she was just too foolish, blinded by love.

"Do you know what youre doing, right?" Jane said with a bitter smile on the corner of her mouth, her throat choked, "I gave you everything I had, but youve been using me from the beginning to the end, treating my love as a bargaining chip."

Edward frowned, not even caring when Claire broke free from his hand, just staring intently at the strange woman.

Jane, with red eyes, asked Edward, "Edward Cullen, do you think Im stupid?"

Edward walked up to Jane, looking down at the woman in pain from a commanding position.

He slightly bent down, his dark eyes tightly staring at the person below, whispering as if between lovers: "I never thought you were stupid, youre just... not smart enough."

Despair surged like a tide, hitting Janes heart.

Jane suddenly felt all her strength drain, she took a deep breath, and helplessly uttered the three words that represented her last stubbornness: "Divorce."

She was tired, reborn once, she didnt want to be heartbroken for this indifferent man again.

Its better to let go early and keep her last dignity, rather than endure the same end as before.

Hearing this, Edward suddenly laughed.

His smile was cold to the extreme, and his slightly narrowed eyes were filled with endless sarcasm: "Jane Eyre, besides that marriage certificate, have we... been together?"

All the love and dignity were trampled on by this man, Jane closed her eyes, her pale hand veins appeared, biting her back teeth and letting the hot tears slide down her cheeks.

"Edward Cullen, were done."
