"Emily, let me introduce you to my girlfriend, Sarah Wilson," Michael said.
Emily felt as if she had been struck by lightning, unable to believe the words coming from the man in front of her. Next to him, the gentle and generous Sarah shyly glanced at Michael and added, "Michael and I are getting married. Emily, Im so happy were going to be family!"
Emily finally snapped out of her shock and looked at Sarah. Michael was her brother, and Sarah was her best friend throughout four years of college!
"When did you guys start..." she asked with difficulty, her voice hoarse.
She looked at Michael, but his gaze was not on her. Instead, he tenderly said to Sarah, "Sarah, have a seat. You must be tired after packing all day. Let me get you some water."
Emily sighed. Her brother had always been so considerate, growing up!
No, Michael was not her biological brother!
At fifteen, during a high school physical exam, she impulsively checked the blood type records of her entire family and discovered that while her parents and she were all Type O, Michael was Type B!
Its impossible for two Type O blood types to have a Type B child. When she confronted her parents for answers, she learned an earth-shattering secret!
Michael was not her biological brother!
But to him, she was his sister!
She had always known he would marry, have children, and fall in love with someone else, but why did it have to be Sarah?
Michael poured a glass of water for Sarah and carried her luggage upstairs, arranging her in the guest room next to his.
Emily followed, closing the door behind her.
"What are you doing?" Michael turned around, noticing her red eyes and instinctively frowning.
"You..." Emily bit her lower lip, her throat dry, and asked with difficulty, "Are you really going to marry Sarah?"
After she asked the question, there was a brief silence between them. Emily, not getting a response, looked up to find his handsome features somewhat stern.
Just as Emily was about to shrink back timidly, he suddenly spoke, "What else? Do you want me to never get married?"
Emilys face turned pale. She wanted to say something but was choked by his next sentence, "Youre just my sister. Could I spend my life with you?"
"I... I didnt mean that!" she hurriedly said, "I just think that Sarah..."
"You want to say shes not suitable for me? Isnt she your best friend? How could she be unsuitable?" Michaels face grew colder. "Emily, straighten your attitude, do your duty as a sister-in-law, and dont interfere in my marriage and emotional life!"
These words made Emily feel as if her heart was being pricked by a needle, with dense pain.
She asked bitterly, "When did you two get together?"
Sarah worked at Michaels company, where he was the CEO, and Sarah was part of the presidential secretariat.
Emily had helped find this job, not knowing that the two of them had developed a romantic relationship and were even planning to get married!
"These questions are not your concern!" Michaels thin lips tightened, turning his head away from her, and he uttered heartless words, "Im getting married, and your living here might interfere with my married life. Ive chosen a downtown apartment for you. Pack up and move there!"
This was like a stab in Emilys chest!
