The Cullen Manor.
Edward Cullen kept his word and indeed went to visit Bill Compton in his room. It was the first time in ten years that he had stepped foot in this room. Standing by the bedside, he smiled at Bill Compton and said, "Dad, happy birthday, Ive brought you a significant gift."
Bill Compton looked up with his aged eyes, surprised. Before he could express his joy, Edward Cullen waved to someone outside the door. A seductive woman in a bright red cheongsam entered, her demeanor alluring.
He held her hand and introduced her affectionately, "This is Scarlett from Blossom House. Not only is she excellent at playing the piano, but her tea-making skills are unparalleled. She will make you a cup of daughter-in-law tea someday."
Bill Comptons expression changed dramatically, eventually turning into fury. He sat up straight and scolded, "What nonsense are you talking about? This is a woman of the entertainment quarter!!"
Edward Cullen, however, did not seem bothered by his anger and did not feel pressured by his rage. He said indifferently, "Dad, Im just informing you. After all, Im not the beggar you took in; Im the unfilial son with a heart of stone."
Leaving his words hanging, he left with Scarlett, striding away. Meanwhile, Bill Compton was so enraged that he coughed up blood and collapsed onto the bed.
On the other side, Jane Eyre returned to the Cullen Manor, having put her clothes back on, amidst the pointing fingers and cursing of everyone. What she didnt expect was to see Bill Compton, coughing up blood in anger.
She immediately understood that Edward Cullen had done this on purpose. This man, overly arrogant and proud, never compromised. He was showing her that she shouldnt dare to change his mind. Even if he came back, it wouldnt be as she wished.
Watching Bill Comptons health deteriorate day by day, Jane Eyre could no longer find Edward Cullen. Even the news of her walking naked from Willow Street to the main street spread like wildfire.
Her reputation was now in tatters, her name disgraced!
Yet, despite this, she couldnt get even a moment of his glance back, still aloof and detached.
Perhaps his indifference and determination had completely angered Bill Compton. The next day, the woman named Scarlett was found dead in Blossom House. Following that, the news of an upcoming grand wedding in the Cullen family spread throughout the city.
And the memorial tablet of Edward Cullens mother was directly removed from the ancestral hall.
For the first time, Edward Cullen stormed into Jane Eyres room with rage.
He grabbed her wrist tightly, his eyes wide with fury: "Is this your goal, Jane Eyre? Your mother went to great lengths to get you into the Cullen family, was it to remove my mothers memorial tablet, wasnt it!?"
Jane Eyre was吓傻了, innocently shaking her head, her eyes filled with tears: "No, its not like that."
Edward Cullens grip was so strong it seemed like he would crush her wrist: "Now everyone in the city knows you are the daughter-in-law of the Cullen family, and Scarlett died because of you. You are indeed just like your mother, both despicable to the extreme!"
But Jane Eyre hadnt dared to step out of the Cullen Mansion these past few days!
She feared those contemptuous, disdainful, or dirty looks; how could she know about the news in the city?
She struggled hard, shaking her head to explain: "I dont know, I dont know anything..."
But her innocence in Edward Cullens eyes was all pretense and evasion.
He pushed her away fiercely, and Jane Eyres body hit the corner of the table, hurting her back and making it hard for her to stand straight.
The man, however, stood firm and left a harsh statement: "So you really want to enter the Cullen familys door? Very well, I fulfill your wish!"
