In the scorching summer of 1970, Jane Eyre stood at the school gate, her head burdened with a stack of thick books. Her face was flushed red, and the sweat that dripped to the ground was instantly evaporated by the heat. Passersby looked at her with strange eyes, pointing and whispering. She forced herself not to look or think about it.
Only because Edward Cullen said that if she stood there with the books until the sun set, he would agree to go home to celebrate Bill Comptons birthday. Since Bill Compton brought her and her brother back ten years ago, the rift between Edward Cullen and him had been getting worse and worse. Now, with Bill Compton bedridden and ill, Edward Cullen had not even visited once. This might be Bill Comptons last birthday.
She wanted to do something for Bill Compton. But until the sun set in the west, Edward Cullen did not show up. Jane Eyre then suddenly realized that he had never intended to go back with her; he was just making fun of her.
If it were any other day, Jane Eyre could have disregarded being made fun of. But not today. She took off the books from her head, made up her mind, and turned to walk in a certain direction.
Standing in front of the Willow Lane that she had been avoiding for ten years, Jane Eyre did something against Edward Cullens wishes for the first time. She swung an axe.
"Bang!" A loud noise echoed as she fiercely chopped open the tightly closed carved wooden door! Seeing the astonished and improperly dressed man and woman on the bed, she was momentarily timid, but she knew she could not back down.
Jane Eyre straightened her back and dragged the axe into the room. Inside, Edward Cullen was shocked. Jane Eyre had always been timid and well-behaved in front of him; this was her first act of defiance.
Standing still, she blushed and averted her gaze from the unabashedly intimate scene, but she was still accustomed to being submissive in front of him. Even with an axe in hand, she spoke softly, "You promised me that if I stood until the sun went down, you would go home."
Edward Cullen was taken aback, noticing for the first time an expression other than timidity on Jane Eyres face. The shyness, timidity, and determined resolve on this womans face made him suddenly find it somewhat amusing. He smiled playfully, his narrow, almond-shaped eyes full of mockery.
Suddenly, he lifted the quilt, and Jane Eyre instinctively raised her hand to cover her eyes. Edward Cullen leaned on the edge of the bed, sneering, "Im not going back, what can you do about it?"
Jane Eyres heart raced, and her face flushed uncontrollably, wishing she could disappear on the spot. But she could not back down; she said urgently, "Bill Compton really wants to see you."
Edward Cullen was even more disdainful: "But I dont want to see him."
Seeing that she wouldnt leave, Edward Cullen brazenly hugged the woman next to him. The woman giggled and slapped playfully, "Hmm~ Mr. Edward, youre so naughty, dont do this, someones watching!"
"Since she likes to watch, let her watch enough!"
"Be gentle, youre so annoying~~"
The words that made ones face flush and heart race kept coming to her ears, and even Jane Eyres ears were burning. She clenched the axe in her hand, suppressing the urge to flee.
Biting her teeth, she said in a deep voice, "Edward Cullen, please come home with me."
This woman dared to call him by his first and last name!
Edward Cullen paused for a moment, extremely displeased.
So he not only ignored her but also became more intense in his actions.
With a wave of his hand, the womans bright red peony belly band fell at her feet.
Jane Eyres leg trembled, and she held her breath, suppressing her fear of stepping away from the belly band.
Thinking of Bill Compton in the hospital bed, she said firmly, "Please come home with me. If you dont come back with me, I will cut off one of her arms."
Even at this point, she still used the word please.
Edward Cullen finally stopped, as if he had heard a big joke, and looked at her with a cold smile: "Are you threatening me?"
Jane Eyre nodded with a frown: "Yes."
Edward Cullen angrily propped himself up, this woman who usually wouldnt dare to go east if he told her to go west, and today she actually dared to threaten him?
He pointed to the woman next to him and said with an evil smile, "Well, then try to cut off one of her hairs in front of me."
Edward Cullen despised her, knowing her weak character since childhood, what kind of waves could she stir up?
But the next second,
Jane Eyre actually raised the axe in her hand, her eyes like a torch, and fiercely chopped towards the woman.
Edward Cullen was too late to be shocked, and quickly pulled the woman off the bed.
"Bang!" A loud noise.
A hole was chopped in the wooden bed.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
"Ah - ! Someone is going to kill!"
The woman screamed, so scared that she didnt even wear her clothes and ran away.
This chop was too sudden and too fierce, and Edward Cullens eyes turned red with anger.
"Jane Eyre, are you crazy?"
Jane Eyres heart tightened with fear.
She didnt want to die, and she was afraid of death, but if he was willing to go home like this...
Jane Eyre spoke weakly: "Will you go home if I die?"
Edward Cullen was stunned, then let go of her hand.
He laughed angrily, "Oh, dont play tricks in front of me. A woman like you, would you be willing to die?"
Jane Eyre frowned tightly.
Before going out, she had said to Bill Compton that she would definitely get Edward Cullen to go back.
Her mother said to her before she died, to be grateful and to repay the kindness.
Living under someone elses roof was not her wish, but the Xiao family was kind to her, and she had to repay it.
Edward Cullens indifferent eyes were full of disdainful ridicule.
Jane Eyres heart was desolate, and her hands subconsciously tightened.
She was a bit uncertain and asked, "You, you wont go back on your word, right?"
Edward Cullen was sure that she would beg for mercy to himself.
He continued to look at her coldly without answering.
After pondering for a while, Jane Eyre moved, and ran towards the window.
She closed her eyes and gritted her teeth, and jumped from the windowsill.
Edward Cullen was shocked and caught her back before she jumped.
A spin, he pressed Jane Eyre against the wall.
"Enough! Jane Eyre!"
"I tell you, even if you die, I dont care!"
The mans resolute words were like a cold wind and sharp arrows, stabbing her heart hard, sealing all her ways.
Jane Eyres eyes turned red suddenly.
It turned out that her weight in his heart was so insignificant, and her heart was unspeakably painful.
She took a deep breath and asked with a tremble, "So what do I have to do, what do I have to do, will you go back?"
Edward Cullen was slightly stunned, looking at her red-eyed appearance, feeling extremely agitated.
For some reason, Edward Cullen blurted out, "As long as you dare to take off your clothes here, and walk from here to the street, I, Edward Cullen, will go back with you tonight, and I will never go back on my word."
Jane Eyres brain "buzzed" and exploded, staring at him in disbelief: "What did you say?"
To ask her to take off her clothes and walk from here to the street, whats the difference from killing her?
No, this is more cruel than killing her.
Where is this place?
Peoples words are terrible, and the flower street willow alley that people avoid.
He wants her to never be able to raise her head in this life, and to be submerged by the saliva for a lifetime!
A lifetime is... better to die than to live!
Edward Cullen sneered, his smile fiercely stinging her eyes: "What, dare not?"
Edward Cullens slender fingers gently patted her pale face.
"If you dare not, then go back where you came from."
Jane Eyre only felt that the blood in her whole body was solidifying, and the fingers that touched her cheek were as cold as if they were going to swallow her.
No woman would really gamble with her own innocence.
Edward Cullen knew that even this woman who was obedient to Xiao Jun would not be an exception.
He withdrew his hand, with a mocking smile, picked up his clothes, and put on one piece after another leisurely.
But when he was dressed, he turned his head.
He found that she had already closed her eyes and started to unbutton the buttons on her chest.
Edward Cullens eyes suddenly sank, and his tone was full of unclear anger: "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Jane Eyre didnt speak, her hands were trembling, and she quickly unbuttoned all the buttons on her clothes. Because she was afraid that if she was a little slower, she would retreat and run away.
Her determination made him feel incredible and even a little angry.
Edward Cullens thin lips curled up slightly, smiling indifferently.
He mocked and said, "Oh, look at you, whats the difference between you and that woman just now?"
His words were like a thorn, deeply piercing her heart.
Let her be clear that the ugly duckling will never be able to become a swan.
Ten years, no matter how much she does, how well, he still hates herself so much.
She is born with vulgar blood in her bones, and he is born to be a noble.
Jane Eyre, with red eyes, soon took off the blue coat and fell to the ground.
Edward Cullens eyes sank: "Are you going to continue acting?"
Jane Eyre hugged her chest with trembling hands and asked, "You wont go back on your word, right?"
At this time, Edward Cullen finally made sure that this woman was serious.
His displeasure grew stronger, but it was quickly suppressed.
She doesnt love herself, what does it have to do with him.
Her reputation and life and death are irrelevant to him.
Edward Cullen said indifferently, "You have to think clearly, in order to let me go back, are you willing to destroy all the pretense you have had in these years?"
Jane Eyre looked into his eyes, wanting to see a trace of care or nervous emotion in those eyes.
But, there was nothing.
He is still that arrogant and proud teenager who doesnt care about her life and death.
Jane Eyre took a deep breath and slowly released her hands around her chest, and Jane Eyre walked towards the door step by step.
Edward Cullen frowned, and every step she took, his eyes would continue to sink, and his hands would clench tightly, but he never stopped her from continuing to move forward.
When she was about to step out of the door, Edward Cullen warned, "Jane Eyre, havent you acted enough?"
Jane Eyre clenched her fists, not allowing herself to retreat, and walked out of the threshold with her head held high and chest straight.
In an instant, it seemed as if the strange eyes of the whole world were cast on her.
Jane Eyre gritted her teeth, restrained her fear, and walked down the stairs step by step.
Step by step, she walked towards the abyss of despair.
In the astonished eyes and boiling words of the crowd, Jane Eyre walked out of the willow alley and walked to the street.
The night concealed the despair in her eyes.
Her heart was dead, and she stood on the dark street like a puppet, allowing people to point and mock her.
Edward Cullen suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and walked towards the slender figure, saying in a deep voice, "You are ruthless!"
Then he walked towards the direction of the Cullen Manor without looking back.
Jane Eyre felt relieved, and tears finally fell slowly.
She also knew that she was completely ruined in this life.
