In a Moment of Thought

In the scorching summer of 1970, Jane Eyre stood at the school gate, her head burdened with a stack of thick books. Her face was flushed red, and the sweat that dripped to the ground was instantly evaporated by the heat. Passersby looked at her with strange eyes, pointing and whispering.
