“Don’t rush to find a job right after graduation. You have the degree, but no work experience yet! So I want you to come help me at my company and learn a bit. What do you think?”
“Thank you so much, Uncle! What problem could I have with such a learning opportunity?”
“Ha ha ha~ I’m just worried that young people these days are too eager to find a job they like, even if it’s not suitable.”
“Hey, I don’t know what others think, but I’m super happy with your arrangement!”
In the car, a middle-aged man and a young girl are chatting happily. One is Mr. Smith, the chairman of a local company, and the other is his freshly graduated niece, Emma.
Emma, with her round face and simple white dress, looks cute and playful. If there’s anything special about her, it’s her big, bright eyes that sparkle like crescent moons when she smiles.
Mr. Smith has always treated Emma well, as he only has one son and loves her like his own daughter.
At this moment, they are heading to Mr. Smiths company.
“I’ve arranged your accommodation close to the company. After we check out the office, I’ll take you there. How does that sound?” Mr. Smith said, affectionately ruffling Emma’s hair.
“I have no problem with that!” Emma replied cheerfully.
“Have you packed everything?” Mr. Smith asked.
“Yep! It’s all in my suitcase! I don’t have much to bring, just some clothes and daily necessities!” Emma tilted her head and replied.
“Alright! If you need anything else, just go buy it.” Mr. Smith smiled.
“Sure! It’s all good! Didn’t you say you’ve prepared everything?” Emma laughed.
Seeing Emma’s happy expression, Mr. Smith smiled even more.
“Emma, you need to be mentally prepared for the workplace. It’s much harsher than school! Even though you’re at my company, because of our relationship, I might not always be able to help you. Once you’re at the company, you need to learn well and be humble. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. What you learn will be yours!” Mr. Smith said seriously. “Remember, don’t cry or back down because of small failures. Everyone grows by learning from mistakes and working hard. I hope you understand.”
Emma looked at Mr. Smith and, after he finished speaking, she put away her smile and said firmly, “Uncle, you can rest assured! I will work hard at the company and won’t mess things up. I won’t let anyone look down on me!”
Mr. Smith smiled at Emma’s serious expression and ruffled her hair again. Emma smiled back at him.
The driver stopped the car in front of the company’s entrance, and Mr. Smith and Emma got out.
Although Emma had been here before, she couldn’t help but marvel at how big the company was! Looking at the building that resembled a tourist attraction, she thought, “I’ll be working in this place from now on!”
“Emma, come here!” Seeing Emma still in a daze after getting out of the car, Mr. Smith turned to her with a fatherly smile.
“Coming!” Emma snapped back to reality and jogged to catch up with Mr. Smith.
As they climbed the steps, the security guard greeted Mr. Smith politely, and he nodded with a smile. Emma couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking it looked like a national leader meeting the public. She politely bowed to the guard.
After all, it was her first time entering a big company, and this scene felt like something out of a TV show, how could she not be excited?
But this was just the beginning! Following Mr. Smith into his office, every employee they encountered greeted Mr. Smith respectfully. Along the way, Emma kept her eyes wide open, taking in the company’s layout, decor, and the people coming and going.
Everything felt so new to her!
“Emma, sit down. Would you like some coffee?”
As soon as they entered Mr. Smith’s office, he took off his suit jacket and hung it on a nearby coat rack.
“Sure! I’m good with anything!” Emma replied, sitting on the sofa with a relaxed smile.
Mr. Smith nodded and walked to his desk, pressing a button on the phone. “Sarah, please bring two cups of coffee. Also, ask Mr. Johnson to come here.”
Sitting on the sofa, Emma was admiring the office, which was simple yet elegant, with minimal decor. Her uncle really was a low-key person!
“Emma.”
“Yeah!”
Mr. Smith said as he sat down on the sofa. “Mr. Johnson is coming over. He’s in charge of new employees, so you two can get to know each other. If you have any questions in the future, feel free to ask him.”
“Got it! I understand!” Emma replied with a smile.
“Knock knock.”
Just as Emma finished speaking, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” Mr. Smith called out.
A handsome man in a suit walked in, holding two cups of coffee.
Emma’s eyes widened as she thought, “No way! Even the male secretary is this handsome?”
“Why did you bring it in? Where’s Sarah?” Mr. Johnson, the handsome man, asked Mr. Smith with a puzzled look.
“Sarah said you were looking for me, so I brought the coffee along to save her the trip,” he replied with a smile.
Mr. Smith took a sip of his coffee and nodded, signaling him to sit down.
“Emma.”
“Yeah!”
Mr. Smith turned to Emma. “This is Mr. Johnson, the manager. You can ask him anything in the future.”
