In the dimly lit bedroom of the apartment, two bodies had just disengaged from a fierce battle.
William lit a cigarette, took a drag, and exhaled a long breath. The long-haired woman in his arms stretched her jade-like arms tightly around his waist, her expression dazed as if she hadnt yet recovered from the lingering entanglement.
"William, lets get married," Emily said after a while, opening her eyes wide, looking up at William with a delicate face full of anticipation. They met and fell in love in high school, thinking they would smoothly go to college, get married, and have children.
Unfortunately, fate played a joke on them. She was targeted by a group of thugs, and he, in a fit of anger for her, accidentally killed someone. The once outstanding school star became a prisoner.
She waited for him to be released, accompanied him to struggle, one year, two years... ten years.
Finally, he had a considerable business, and she was thirty years old, with their baby.
Happiness was within reach.
Williams hand holding the cigarette trembled, and he extinguished half of the cigarette in the ashtray, as if he found her words a bit absurd.
"Dont joke, Im a murderer. How can the Landon Familys heiress marry someone who has been to jail?"
She hated his self-deprecating tone. Emily frowned slightly, hugged Williams arm even tighter, and raised her voice a bit: "I dont care, if anyone is to blame, its those people. They wanted to kidnap me to extort money from my father. Its their fault!"
William removed the hand from his waist, got out of bed naked, with a bitter expression on his face. She should marry a wealthy young master of a prestigious family; she should have a better life.
"Stop talking, Ive never thought about getting married."
No marriage? What about her pregnancy? Was he going to let their child be a fatherless bastard?
Emily sat up in agitation, her hand subconsciously sliding over her stomach, "Youve never thought about marriage? What are we doing sneaking around? What do you think of me?"
"..." William didnt know why Emily was so obsessed with marriage today. They had a car, a house, when she was sick, he coaxed her to take medicine, when she worked overtime, he picked her up at midnight, she didnt like smoke, so he cooked at home.
Even if Emily wanted his life, he would give it to her without hesitation, but a marriage certificate, whats the importance?
The air was dead silent. Emily calmed down a bit and said meaningfully, "Keith Howard is returning from abroad, and recently, Dad has been talking to me about a marriage alliance with the Howard family."
The young master of the Howard family? The Howards and the Landons are both top-notch families in City A. He matches her... its very suitable.
"This marriage is great, and I will give a big gift to congratulate you when you get married." William felt a pang in his heart, but his tone remained indifferent.
Seeing Williams reaction, Emily couldnt bear it any longer and threw a pillow, "William White, Im not joking with you, this is true! Im already thirty years old, twelve years, how many twelve years does a woman have? As long as you are willing, we can go get the certificate now, if you are not willing, I will marry him."
She couldnt wait any longer; she could wait, but the child in her belly couldnt wait.
