Three days prior, he had lost his job; today, he lost his girlfriend. The successive blows nearly shattered him. In this planet known for its wealth and filth, he was a man of no consequence. Though he was reluctant to accept it, the truth was plain: his misfortunes stemmed from someones desire for his girlfriend.
The individual was a young master of a powerful family on Carmel, who swiftly won over Chen Yangs girlfriend with money and did not cease there. Using various means, he caused Chen Yang to lose not only his job but also all his savings from years of hard work. The worst part was that Chen Yang only understood the full extent of it today. The man wanted Chen Yang to suffer the loss of his girlfriend when he had already lost all his support.
A person feels the most pain when they lose the last straw that could save them, and this was just another means for that man to gain a different kind of mental satisfaction.
Hiss! A car sped past him, splashing water all over his body.
He stood dazed by the roadside until a car suddenly stopped in front of him.
A stunning young woman emerged from the vehicle.
Her skin was smoother than jade, her eyes full of a fatal temptation, and her tight skirt couldnt hide the curves of her long legs. Every inch of her devilish figure could make one drool.
A natural-born seductress was what she was.
"Psycho, do you have a problem? Cant you watch where youre walking? Loser..." the young lady shouted at him, her pretty eyebrows flying up in anger.
Chen Yang finally snapped out of it, his hollow gaze lingering on the young womans body. The undulating curves barely held his attention for a moment.
If it were usual times, seeing such a top-tier beauty, Chen Yangs eyes would likely be fixed in awe.
Smack! A loud slap.
Chen Yangs eyes finally focused, the burning pain on his cheek, a surge of inexplicable resentment welled up, glaring at her, he snarled, "You hit me?"
The young woman seemed slightly taken aback, pausing for a moment before disdainfully saying, "So what if I did? Its better than letting you get hit by a car on the road... If you dont want to die, let me slap you a few more times..."
This time he felt the searing pain on his right cheek.
"You..." Before he could react, the young woman had already jumped back into her car.
"Phew..." He exhaled a long breath of turbid air, his body immediately trembling, not from pain, not from the cold, but from the burning pain in his heart, beat by beat, his heart pounded.
So, Im still alive, Chen Yang realized with a start.
A bitter smile crept onto his lips, and Chen Yang wiped the rain from his face, suddenly regaining the courage to live.
Clenching his fists until blood seeped from his palms.
"Fool, pig, you must live on. Are you just going to run away? Useless soul, hurry up and give me your body!" It seemed like two souls were arguing and shouting inside him, the suppressed soul B roaring, "That scum, one day, I will return a thousandfold for the humiliation I suffered today!"
Chen Yang lowered his head and let out a soft sigh. He gazed at his slender fingers, "Maybe, am I running away? Fight... What do I fight with? But, perhaps youre right..."
He looked up and realized that he had somehow arrived at the most chaotic Cross Mare Avenue, standing in front of a nightclub.
Then, an explosive roar, a blinding flash of light, and a huge tongue of fire erupted from the upper floors of the building.
Blinking, he realized that what he saw was not an illusion, but could he really be that unlucky?
No, I want to live...
This was the only and final obsession in Chen Yangs mind, a common cry from Soul A and Soul B.
Torrential rain assaulted the ground like bullets, thunder rumbled continuously, and a sudden flash of cold light seemed to cut through the chaotic space.
The icy water ran down his cheeks, across his neck and chest.
Where am I? Chen Yang opened his eyes in confusion, questions immediately surfacing.
"Welcome to the world of the Divine Realm," a calm voice sounded beside his ear.
"Am I dead?" Chen Yang was a little surprised when he said this, realizing that he was terrifyingly calm.
After the recent succession of blows, he had seen through many things, which allowed him to remain composed.
"Death? This needs to be discussed from several aspects. I can only say that your body is dead," a faint figure gradually formed in front of Chen Yang.
"Oh, I understand. What exists now is my soul. So it turns out that there really is such a thing as the soul after death," Chen Yangs tone was as if he were talking about someone elses experience.
"More or less," the figure looked at him appreciatively, "Young man, you are strange. Dont you care about your life at all? Yet your obsession with living is very strong, so much so that you can actually..."
"No, I care, I told myself I must live before I died," Chen Yang replied calmly, "But since Im dead, what else can I do?" He examined himself, becoming quite interested.
His current form was the same as the faint shadow in front of him, a figure composed of glowing particles.
The figure across from him fell silent for a moment, then said indifferently, "Actually, you dont have to die..."
Chen Yang trembled all over, barely daring to believe his ears, hesitantly asking, "What did you say?"
The figure didnt continue; his voice sounded very gentle as he laughed, "Dont worry, let me show you around my world."
He waved gently at Chen Yang, and the scenery flashed before his eyes. Chen Yang found himself in a vast space.
He couldnt help but wipe his eyes with his hand, not realizing until two streams of particles swept across his vision that he had no body.
Chen Yang looked around and couldnt help but gasp; although he was not as calm as before, the sight before him still shocked him.
This was a circular palace adorned with hundreds of huge jade pillars, each carved with countless images.
In the center of the palace, a high platform stood, and the figure sat atop it.
In the air of the palace, countless colorful light points floated, now seemingly summoned, flowing towards the figure. In just a few seconds, the figure gradually became clear, every part of its body solidifying into form.
He was an old man who had lived a long life, his loose skin and layers of wrinkles revealing the secret of his age.
He was in the twilight of his life. Although advancements in life energy theory and gene modification had granted the citizens of this generation a lifespan close to one hundred and fifty years, death remained an insurmountable barrier for all.
The old mans eyes, however, did not convey the sense of age and remoteness one might expect; they were like two unfathomable pools of water, occasionally flashing with light. Overall, he was a very amiable-looking person.
Chen Yang stared in astonishment at these changes, and the old man suddenly laughed, "This is my world, which I call the Divine Realm. Within this domain, if I want mountains, there are mountains; if I want water, there is water; if I say there should be light, the world is filled with light."
In the vast hall, his voice took on an ethereal quality, imbued with a strange sense of mystery.
As he spoke, the palace walls turned transparent. In the distance, an endless plain stretched out, and within the line of sight, a massive mountain range rose, the ground split, and a rushing river appeared. When the first light of day shone from the sky, the earth began to sprout colorful, vibrant flowers.
The entire world immediately came alive with vitality.
