I met Luna in a penguin group, which is what we call a chat group on QQ. That day at work, after finishing a report that left me dazed and in need of some entertainment, I clicked into a group called "Enchanted Spirits Club." Im not sure who added me, but as soon as I joined, I saw people claiming to be ancient female ghosts and millennia-old fairies, all incredibly beautiful. They were competing to post photos, and indeed, there were a few stunners, but they didnt look like ghosts at all; more like mischievous imps.
I found it amusing, thinking this group was interesting. There are those who want to be deities, but Ive never heard of anyone wanting to be ghosts.
I kept sending the grinning emoji. Suddenly, someone with the handle Specter Chaser said, "You keep laughing, do you find this amusing?"
I replied, "You guys are really something, youve convinced yourselves youre ghosts, havent you?"
Specter Chaser said, "Alright, it seems you dont believe. Ill come find you, and dont get scared when I do."
I said, "Come on over, Im all tucked in bed waiting for you. If youve got the guts, take me with you. Ive lived enough."
After that, I felt bored, and I knew what would happen next鈥攅veryone would gang up on me, so I left the group. Its always the same, wherever you go, say something smart and youll get cursed at by a bunch of fools.
That day, I worked late and by the time I rode my bike to the entrance of my apartment complex, it was already late at night. I knocked on the door for a while before the old man opened it, insisting on a dollar. I gave him ten, and he gave me nine back. I didnt give him the change on purpose, just to be a nuisance!
As I entered the complex, I pedaled hard, and a white figure darted out. I crashed right into them, and my wheel was flattened. I fell to the ground, thinking I was in trouble. If they tried to scam me, that would be a headache. I went to help her up, and when she turned her head, it was like I saw electricity, light, and the only myth. She was stunning, with a delicate face and big eyes. She rubbed her thigh, saying, "How do you ride a bike? Youve killed me!"
I quickly apologized, its all my fault. But I wondered, wasnt she cold in such scant clothing? Modern girls are more and more resistant to the cold. I wiped my mouth and asked, "Did you hurt your leg?"
She tried to stand up but winced and sat back down. She said her foot was twisted. Although I was reluctant, I suggested going to the hospital, but I was praying in my heart, please dont go, that place would bankrupt me!
Perhaps my prayer worked, and she said, "Carry me home, I can just rub some alcohol there, its not a big deal."
I squatted down, and she gently climbed onto my back. I stood up with her, estimating she didnt weigh more than a hundred pounds. I thought to myself, this woman is truly exceptional, so kind, and if I ever make it rich, Ill repay her. Whose child is she? Ive never seen her around.
Under the streetlight were our shadows. She directed me to turn left and right until we reached the entrance to the underground parking lot, which looked like a monster with its mouth wide open, dark and scary.
She whispered in my ear, "I live in here, dont be afraid!"
I thought, if youre not scared, why should I be? I adjusted her slight body and said, "Why do you live here? Is it cheap?"
She didnt answer, and I thought this woman was interesting. Dressed so innocently, she lived in a parking lot, unafraid of being harmed by鍧忎汉, how dangerous!
I walked along the passage, feeling colder and colder as we descended. Finally, we reached the flat ground where various cars were parked. Im a car enthusiast, so I wasnt bored as I walked, looking at the Mercedes, BMWs, Audis, Mazdas...
"Wheres your home?" I asked.
She seemed to have fallen asleep on my back. There was a chair ahead, probably where the security guard usually sat. I put her on the chair, her body leaning back, head tilted to one side, showing her long neck. In the dim light, it had a unique charm.
I looked around, no one was there, and there were no cameras above. I thought about running away, but then I thought, that would be too immoral. But if I went to her home, who knows what her family would be like? Would they try to scam me? I was really torn!
In the end, I decided it was too irresponsible to run away, so I started calling her: "Hey, whats wrong? Are you sleepy? Were not home yet, hey!..."
She finally woke up, rubbed her eyes, and then suddenly covered her chest and said, "You, did you touch me? You men are the worst, taking advantage when girls fall asleep."
"If you hadnt said that, I wouldnt have thought of it. Youre tempting me to commit a crime," I said, reaching out. She screamed.
The echo! It scared me so much I nearly wet myself. I quickly said, "Im just joking, lets go home, its dangerous here."
I turned around and squatted in front of her, and she slowly climbed on. I stood up and asked, "How much further?"
She said it wasnt far, just keep going. I walked along the passage, and she pointed with her small hand, "Go down there."
I looked over, another passage, foggy, and there was another level below. I thought, I dont have a car, I really didnt know the parking garage had so many levels. I walked down the passage, asking her, "Arent you scared living down here?"
"Im used to it," she said.
I thought, its really not easy. I asked, "How long have you been in Denver?"
"Ive always been here," she smiled.
"You speak Mandarin so well," I said, "How much further?"
I walked down the passage for about two hundred meters, and it was still foggy ahead, the lights getting dimmer, but I could still see the ground.
She said, "Almost there, tell me a joke, maybe Ill laugh and well be there."
This illogical request made me laugh first, and I said, "I dont know any jokes, Im the most awkward with my mouth, I cant make girls happy."
"What can you do, then?" she asked.
I said I could recite Tang poems. She asked me to recite one. As we all know, the first poem that comes to mind is definitely "Quiet Night Thoughts." I recited the first line, "Before my bed, there is bright moonlight..."
Unexpectedly, she suddenly shouted, "Scoundrel, I wont listen anymore. Youre a bad person, put me down."
I put her down, not knowing what was going on, and she slapped me right in the face. I touched my face and asked, "Whats the matter?"
"Who let you bully people? You said I was naked. Youre the one whos naked, your whole family is naked."
I suddenly realized and asked, "May I ask your name, miss?"
"I, my name is Luna. Youre so annoying!"
I responded with an oh, and said I was sorry. Then I said, "Luna, what a pure name! This name reminds me of Change."
She limped forward and turned her head, saying, "Im not Change. You can go back now, Im home, just up ahead."
