The cold wind was biting. As Linda Lee stepped out of the Downtown Hospital, she wrapped her slightly thin coat tightly around herself and couldnt help but shiver. Under the mask was a small, pale face. She hailed a taxi and struggled to step into it.
The car started and headed towards her so-called home.
The scenery outside the window receded scene by scene. Linda gazed out of the window, clutching her chemotherapy form. She felt a sense of loss. A month ago, when she was told she had leukemia, she didnt feel real, just absurd. But today, after her first chemotherapy session at the hospital, the immense pain forced her to face reality. She did indeed have this terminal illness with a very low cure rate.
Linda, who had just undergone chemotherapy, had no strength for any extra movements. After regaining her senses, she still took out her phone and called Sean Parker, asking him in a pleasing and soft tone, "Are you coming back for dinner tonight?"
"I told you Im very busy with work these days. Can you stop bothering me? Im not coming back," Seans attitude on the other end was as impatient as always.
Linda was momentarily speechless and wanted to say something more, but all she heard was the busy tone of the call being hung up.
She had a moment of daze, but in the end, she lowered her eyes, put down her phone, and looked at the photo of them when they were young on the screen. In the photo, she and Sean were looking at each other, their eyes full of uncontrollable love. But now, the picture on the screen seemed to be mocking her current desolation.
She really wanted to ask Sean what he was busy with, so busy that he forgot today was their seventh wedding anniversary and also her birthday.
"Ah Qing, lets choose to get married on your birthday in the future, so that every birthday of yours will be our wedding anniversary. You must celebrate it with me, and dont complain that Im too clingy later," when Sean said this to her with high spirits when they were young, her heart almost jumped out of her throat.
The one who said this was him, but in the end, the one who got tired first was also him.
"Miss, are you okay? Do you need a tissue?" The kind-hearted driver asked her.
Linda wiped away her tears and forced a smile: "Sir, can you tell me a happy birthday?"
"Happy Birthday, Miss! Theres no difficulty in life that cant be overcome. Youre still young, and life is still long. The unhappy things will always pass." The driver comforted her.
But unexpectedly, after hearing this, Linda burst into tears. What she couldnt get past was that her life no longer had enough time.
That night, Sean indeed did not come back.
The next day, Linda went out to buy some groceries and happened to bump into a courier delivering a package to her. She saw that the information on it was indeed her own, so she accepted it.
She was originally thinking that maybe Sean would come back today, and her mood was quite pleasant, but when she returned to her home, she found a girl standing at the door. She was beautiful and well-proportioned, wearing a white woolen coat. When she saw her coming, she smiled and greeted her.
Linda stopped where she was, unable to take another step forward. This girl she indeed did not recognize in her memory, but the clothes on the girl hurt her eyes--
It was a gift that Sean had specially customized for her in the first year of their marriage, unique in the world!
"Hello, Sean asked me to come and get a suit for him. Hes going on a business trip today," the girl said with a sweet smile.
Linda steadied her mind and asked her back, "Why didnt he come back himself? And who are you? I dont remember having you in Seans company, do I?"
The girl looked at her in surprise, with a hint of contempt in her eyes, and then replied, "Sean was a bit tired after drinking too much last night and is still sleeping."
"Who are you? What identity do you have to come and get his clothes for him?" Linda repeated, her gaze firmly on her.
The girl was stunned by her question, then looked her up and down without any fear, thinking about something, revealing a victorious smile. She approached and whispered in Lindas ear, "I am Seans current lover. Is this identity enough?"
