Before Sarah could react, the conversation inside the door had suddenly stopped.
The door in front of her was suddenly opened, and Sarah was startled and took two steps back.
Jake frowned, "What are you doing here?"
"I came to call you over," Sarah said awkwardly, not daring to look at him, her heart entangled with confusion and a hint of bitterness.
Jake, however, seemed not to care at all, striding out of the room and nodding lightly, "Lets go."
Sarah stood where she was, waiting for someone to come out of the room.
Jake stopped and looked back at her, "What are you still doing there?"
"Theres someone in the room..." Sarah subconsciously looked back towards the study, but the rest of her words suddenly stuck in her throat—no one!
She could have sworn she heard another persons voice in the room besides Jakes, but now the study was empty, with no one there at all!
She pointed inside in disbelief, "How... how is there no one? Mr. Williams, wasnt there just someone in here?"
A trace of surprise flashed through Jakes otherwise indifferent eyes. After a pause, he raised his eyebrows slightly, "Did you really not dream anything when you were sleeping just now?"
Sarah was confused, and she couldnt help but take this question to heart, probing, "I did have a strange dream, but is it important what I dreamed about?"
Jake was stunned for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, and after a long while, he seemed to return to his usual indifferent demeanor, "Its not important."
After a few steps, Jake suddenly asked her, "What did you hear just now?"
Sarah thought of the content she had just heard and felt a little lost.
She never concealed her emotions from Jake, so after hesitating for half a second, she still raised her head and told the truth, "I just heard you talking with someone, saying that I look like someone..." She didnt have the courage to continue.
Jake was stunned for a moment, then pulled the corner of his mouth up, reached out and patted her head gently, "You must have been sleeping silly. Youre hallucinating; theres no one inside."
When he finished his last sentence, Sarah felt a moment of dizziness, and when she came to her senses, she was back to the state she was in when she first came to find him.
Sarah playfully stuck her tongue out at him and linked her arm with his as they walked downstairs, "Your friends are here, asking me to call you down for dinner."
"Okay."
After going downstairs, the guests swarmed around them, proactive and warm, not at all like the friends of the expressionless Jake Williams.
...
Jake Williams only stayed at home for less than three days this time before leaving again, and he sent her back to her dormitory.
"Is your birthday next Saturday?" Jake suddenly asked her as he was about to leave.
Sarahs heart leaped with joy, and she quickly nodded, "Yes."
"I might not be able to make it back that day. If possible, dont go out that day," Jake said something strange to her.
Sarah was a bit puzzled, and he had never made such a strange request to her before, "Why?"
Jake didnt answer but looked at her with his unique cold gaze.
After a while, Sarah gave in herself, nodding in agreement, "Okay, okay, I got it, I wont go out, Ill just stay in the dormitory!"
Jake watched her enter the dormitory and stood there for a long time before turning around and muttering to himself as if talking to himself, "I hope we wont meet..."
