Sarah felt as if she had experienced a long dream. In the dream, autumn turned to winter, and there was boundless desolation. She seemed to have spent countless years in this desolation until one day, a figure in white came against the light, stood in front of her, and she couldnt see his face clearly, but she could feel his tenderness.
The scene shifted, and she suddenly found herself in a crowd, filled with panic. She was looking for him, but she couldnt find him anywhere...
At the end of the dream, a person dressed in black came to her side, and the deep voice seemed to carry the coldness from hell: "Follow me, Ill take you to find him."
Her heart suddenly tightened, and she instinctively wanted to break free. No, she couldnt leave...
"No—" Sarah woke up from her sleep with a scream, only to find herself in the bedroom of the Williams residence, and Jake Williams was sitting on a tatami by the bed, reading a business magazine. Hearing her exclamation, he looked up in surprise.
Upon meeting his gaze, Sarah blushed and lowered her head, explaining in a low voice, "Mr. Williams, Im sorry, I had a nightmare."
"Hmm." Jake responded indifferently. Normally, he wouldnt ask any further questions about such matters, but this time he surprisingly continued to ask her, "What did you dream about?"
"Ah?" Sarah was taken aback and after a while, she regained her senses and shook her head dazedly, "I dont quite remember."
In fact, those dreams were too far from reality, and she was afraid Jake would think she was silly if she told him.
Unexpectedly, this answer seemed to make Jakes mood noticeably worse.
He put down the magazine in his hand and muttered, "Is the old guys incense burner useless?"
Sarah didnt hear what he said and asked, "What did you say?"
"Nothing, now that youre awake, come down and have a meal," Jake stood up and instructed her, "There are a few guests at home tonight, tidy up a bit."
Sarah froze in place, immediately feeling sweet in her heart just because of Jakes "home" word.
She dressed up specially before walking downstairs, feeling very nervous.
The moment Sarah appeared at the stairway, she couldnt move, and the smile on her face seemed a bit awkward.
Nearly a dozen people downstairs all looked at her as if they were looking at a monkey, and their eyes were full of teasing that she couldnt understand. Who wouldnt be embarrassed?
She looked around but didnt see Jake, and her heart became even more panicked. She didnt know any of these people, and she was really in a dilemma at the moment.
Perhaps seeing her predicament, one of them smiled and told her, "Miss Thompson, Jake Williams is in the study next to him, go call him down, we are all waiting for him, he is a president of... Ahem, Sterling Group, how can he treat guests like this?"
"Okay, alright."
Sarah breathed a sigh of relief and turned towards the direction of the study.
Approaching the study, Sarah raised her hand to knock on the door, but suddenly heard Jakes angry voice from behind the door, and she didnt knock on the door but stopped--
"Whats going on? Why isnt it working on her? Didnt you say this broken furnace would work?" She had never seen Jake so angry.
A few seconds later, another voice came from inside: "Dont be angry, I know youve been waiting for many years, but these things cant be rushed."
"What do you mean it cant be rushed? How long Ive been waiting, you should know, and its not easy to find a Sarah Thompson who is so similar to her. If you tell me now that this Sarah Thompson is useless, then all my efforts over the years would be in vain, wouldnt they?"
Jakes unfamiliar voice came through the door one word at a time and reached her ears, making her shudder all over, and her heart instantly sank to the bottom.
What does his words... mean?
