"Every Step a Breeze, Youre Nowhere to Be Found."
“Did you deliberately make yourself look like this for someone?” Edward Cullen glanced at the frail and pale Jane Eyre, frowning.
Jane saw the disgust in his eyes and blurted out, "No, I went to the hospital..."
"Go to a doctor if youre sick, dont tell me, I cant cure it." Before she could finish, he pushed her aside and walked out.
The door was slammed shut, and Janes mournful murmur echoed in the room—
"Ive seen a doctor, and he cant cure it either."
The surroundings were silent, and the only response she got was the sound of the wind and snow scraping against the windowsill, like a womans sobbing...
New York City, a private hospital.
"Miss Eyre, its not too late for chemotherapy. Ask your family to come over," Adam Wilmont closed the medical record book, his expression serious.
"Im afraid of pain, just prescribe me some medicine first," Jane forced a smile and said, "Please keep my condition confidential."
Call the family, where is the family? After her parents passed away, she only had Edward Cullen.
Jane leaned on the cold handrail and slowly walked down, telling Edward about her illness? Forget it.
Edward was no longer the teenager from nine years ago, and now he was extremely annoyed with her. Why bother to ask for trouble?
Standing at the hospital entrance, Jane looked at the snowflakes falling, tightened her scarf, and sighed slightly.
Standing at the bus stop, Jane took out the diagnosis form, thought for a second, and threw it into the trash can next to her.
Back home, she poured out a handful of colorful pills and swallowed them with warm water.
The temperature in the room slowly rose, and Jane finally felt a little warm. She dialed the number she had memorized by heart, over and over again. When she called the eighth time, the call finally went through.
Janes eyes lit up at that moment, and her voice became choked: "Edward, its...snowing outside."
Edward listened to the womans voice, his thick eyebrows knitted: "Never seen snow? Youre in your twenties, can you be more mature? If theres nothing, Ill hang up."
He didnt know when he started to particularly dislike Jane like this, everything can give you a few turns, boring.
Jane carefully said, "Tomorrow is New Years Day, Im at home..."
"I wont be back, I have something to do," Edward said and hung up the phone.
Jane listened to the busy tone from the phone, slowly slid down on the cold floor, her shoulders shaking, crying uncontrollably.
Three years ago, Edwards heart was no longer with her, and as a pillow person, Jane could not help but feel it.
But nine years of companionship made her really reluctant to break this last layer of window paper.
Edward came back again a week later.
Jane didnt expect it, looking at the man standing at the door, the medicine in his hand became hot.
But Edward didnt take a closer look, he went straight to the study. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Jane quickly put down the medicine and prepared to say something to him.
Before pushing the door, he happened to bump into Edward coming out with a file. Jane was stunned and didnt know how to react.
Edward glanced at the thin Jane, frowned and said, "Did you deliberately make yourself look like this for someone?"
Jane saw the disgust in his eyes and blurted out, "No, Edward, I went to the hospital..."
Before she could finish, Edwards phone rang, and a gentle female voice came clearly: "Mr. Cullen, the banquet is about to start."
"Hmm." Edward responded, and Jane keenly noticed the tenderness in his tone.
Edward pushed Jane out and said, "Go to a doctor if youre sick, dont tell me, I cant cure it."
The door was slammed shut, and Janes murmur echoed in the room: "Ive seen a doctor, and he cant cure it either."
