Emily walked aimlessly on the busy streets, dragging her luggage, unsure of where to go. Looking at the happy faces of the passers-by, she felt that there was no place for her in this world anymore.
Overwhelmed by her pain, Emily squatted on the street, burying her head in her knees and crying. Passers-by looked at her strangely, some came over to comfort her, and others just walked away.
Emily vented her grievances about the hardships she had endured at the Davis family, and how she had worked like a cow and horse over the years, even facing her mother-in-laws difficulties.
Sarah, seeing that Emily hadnt arrived yet and her calls were not getting through, didnt care about anything else. She grabbed her coat from the rack and rushed out of the house, planning to go to the Davis family to find Emily and ask what was going on.
Before she could reach the Davis family, Sarah suddenly saw a crowd of people on the street. Her feet involuntarily walked towards them, and her intuition told her that it was probably the person she was looking for.
Sarah pushed through the crowd and indeed saw the familiar face she was looking for. She quickly ran over and hugged Emily, who was crying on the street, her eyes red and tears streaming down her face.
"Emily Thompson, what are you doing here! Do you know how many calls Ive made, and you didnt answer any! Youre driving me crazy. I was just about to go to the Davis family to find you!"
Faced with Sarahs questions, Emily just cried and didnt answer, which made Sarah even more anxious:
"How can you be alone here! And whats the deal with the newspaper report! Say something!"
Emily still squatted, hugging herself tightly, burying her head in her knees, not saying anything, just crying harder.
Seeing this, Sarah knew it wasnt a solution. She wiped away her own tears and then pulled Emily up:
"Emily Thompson, stop crying. Come on, go to my house!"
Emily didnt struggle but followed Sarah, letting her lead her. In this moment, she felt warmth, feeling that not everyone had abandoned her, she still had dreams, and she still had Sarah as a friend.
They didnt say a word on the way, which made Emily think Sarah was angry. Given Sarahs talkative nature, the silence was unusual, and Emily didnt know what to say.
Soon they arrived at Sarahs house. Sarah took out a pair of slippers for Emily, then went into the room and took out a towel and some clothes.
"The bathroom is there, go in and clean up, take a good look at yourself now, and think about it!"
Emily took the towel and clothes from Sarah, stood in the living room in a daze, thinking about what Sarah had said to her, then slowly went to the bathroom, turned on the light, and looked at herself in the mirror. Emily suddenly felt strange, but she didnt regret it!
Emily turned on the shower, stood under the showerhead in a daze, not knowing what she was thinking. She didnt know how long it had been, and the water turned cold, making Emily shiver. She quickly finished washing, changed her clothes, opened the door, and saw Sarah sitting in the living room.
"Finished washing, tell me what happened!"
Emily paused for a moment, took a deep breath, raised her head, and said,
"Sweetie, I have no home, Ive been kicked out by the Davis family."
Sarah looked at Emily, whose eyes were swollen and tear-stained, and was shocked.
"What!"
Upon hearing that Emily had been kicked out by the Davis family, Sarah was stunned.
