Whats going on? How did I end up in a hotel? Who bandaged my wounds? A series of questions flashed through Emilys mind, and her forehead began to throb again.
Forget it, no need to think about it, its better to leave first. Emily stood up, straightened her clothes, tidied her hair and face, and opened the room door.
"Here she comes! Here she comes!" Before Emily could see what was outside the door, she was surrounded by a swarm of people.
"Who are you? Where am I?" Emily was bewildered.
"Share your thoughts with us!" A man with a camera kept flashing at her.
"Sorry, please dont take pictures," Emily said, trying to shield her face from the blinding flashes.
The crowd continued to surround Emily, taking pictures relentlessly, and the crush made it hard for her to breathe.
"Follow me." Just as Emily was about to faint again, the masked face appeared again.
He wrapped his arm around Emilys waist, gently lifted her, and pushed her through the crowd.
"Run," the masked face said, pulling Emily into a sprint.
They ran for a while until they were sure no one was following them. The masked face led her to a safety stairwell.
"Thank you, you saved me before, right? Did you bandage my wounds?" Emily looked at the masked face with gratitude.
"Yep," the masked face was not very talkative.
"Who are you? Whats going on?" Emily had a lot of questions.
"Its safe here now, be careful going back," the masked face said, then turned and left.
After the masked face left, Emily felt she should leave as soon as possible. She quietly left through the back door. The streets were bustling with people, but Emily didnt know where to go. She felt like a discarded toy, homeless.
With no other choice, Emily could only return to her and Marks home. Emily dragged her tired body back home, ready to take off her shoes when suddenly everything went black, and a slap hit her face.
"Mom..." Emily was dazed by the slap, and when she recognized who had hit her, she realized it was Marks mother, her mother-in-law.
"Dont call me mom! Youre not worthy! You shameless woman, how dare you come back!" Marks mother grabbed Emily and pushed her out the door.
"Mom, whats going on? What did I do wrong?" Emily was confused by the sudden scolding and felt angry.
"Look at what youve done!" Marks mother threw a newspaper at Emilys face.
Emily picked up the newspaper and saw headlines about a wealthy young wife not returning home late at night.
"How could this be? I didnt do anything, I got hurt and passed out yesterday, and when I woke up, I was in a hotel," Emily was at a loss, never expecting that the crowd surrounding her this morning were reporters.
"Then you admit you were in a hotel last night? You really are a shameless hussy!" Marks mother didnt want to listen to Emilys explanation and pushed her out the door, throwing her luggage at her.
