Lynn Lin was once again haunted by nightmares. She dreamt that Iriss child was gone, and Trent Lu, in his quest for retribution, brutally pinned her to the creaky, broken bed...

A week prior.

Lynn stood outside the Intensive Care Unit at Longwest Hospital, her heart filled with trepidation. Iris, clutching her bleeding stomach, had been rushed into surgery and had yet to emerge. Though Lynn was not the cause of this tragedy, no one believed her.

Suddenly, Trent Lu burst through the door, grabbed her wrist, and forcibly dragged her into the adjacent dark room.

He tightly gripped her chin, his usually jade-like handsome face twisted with rage.

"You killed that child, do you realize that?" he accused.

Her chin throbbing from his grip, Lynn instinctively struggled, her eyes filled with urgency, "I didnt harm her... please believe me, Trent..."

"It doesnt matter anymore!" Trent Lu abruptly released her chin.

As Lynn thought he was willing to listen to her explanation, he suddenly pushed her onto the empty bed behind her, pinning her down with his body.

The chill in his gaze pierced Lynn like a sword, causing her to shiver on the bed, her voice trembling as she said:

"...That child wasnt even yours, Trent..."

To her surprise, Trent Lu sneered and suddenly leaned in to whisper in her ear,

"The childs parentage is irrelevant. You lost one, so youll replace it with another!"

The sound of fabric tearing filled the air as he roughly ripped her dress, exposing her smooth skin to the cold air.

Lynn fought desperately, only to earn Trent Lus merciless mockery.

"Stop pretending, Lynn. All those contracts, all that undying love – if you hadnt shown your true colors, I might have actually been deceived by your innocent facade!"

Trent Lus thin lips brushed against her face, almost kissing her, yet at such an intimate distance, there was a palpable threat.

His gaze as sharp as a blade, he gently touched Lynns neck before suddenly gripping it, his voice harsh:

"After all, youre no different from those other women, arent you? You just wanted to climb into my bed. Ill fulfill your wish! Lynn!"

"I didnt... muffled..."

Lynn tried to defend herself, but Trent Lu fiercely silenced her with a kiss, his long fingers trailing down her neck, ruthlessly shredding her last shred of covering.

But seeing the ambiguous smile on his lips, Lynn felt as if her heart had been torn open, the cold wind howling through, causing a burning pain.

She had worked so hard for his attention, never imagining that their next physical union would be under such circumstances.

Tears welled up in her eyes as Lynn clutched the hem of Trent Lus shirt, nearly desperate:

"Trent Lu! You cant treat me like this!"

Alas, the man above her paid no heed to her agony, thrusting into her body with a cruelty that left her gasping.

Under the intense pain, Lynn bit down on his shoulder, allowing the taste of blood to spread in her mouth, never loosening her grip.

She feared that if she opened her mouth, a humiliating moan would escape, which would be worse than death itself! Tears streamed down her face, disappearing into the dim shadows in an instant...

She didnt know how much time had passed before Lynn slowly opened her eyes, only to meet Trent Lus mocking gaze.

"Ha, you put on such a virtuous act, I thought you were some pure and untouched virgin, but youre not!"

The vicious words tumbled from Trent Lus mouth like icy daggers, piercing Lynn instantly.

She struggled to move, her entire body aching as if it were falling apart, but the pain in her heart was a thousand times worse.

Was this man truly the one she had vowed to love for a lifetime?

Lynn stared at Trent Lu, her eyes brimming with tears, as if looking at a stranger.

"Dont look at me with those eyes! If you hadnt overstepped recently, they wouldnt have targeted you! The child was my bargaining chip in the power struggle; you caused it to be lost, and thus, you must be punished!"

Feeling uneasy under her gaze, Trent Lu unusually explained more, but his words were all sharp warnings, devoid of any tenderness.

"Remember, our relationship is merely contractual! You should never have had any thoughts about me! Not even a bit!"

Trent Lus lips curled into an ambiguous smile, but his eyes were cold as ice.

Suddenly, Lynns heart felt as if it had been struck by a heavy hammer. She clutched her chest, her mind going blank, not even noticing when Trent Lu slammed the door and left.

All those years of companionship had only earned her the rebuke of overstepping, and Lynn felt as if her heart was being pierced by thousands of needles at once.

Suddenly, there was another commotion outside the door.
