Sophia Thompson watched the extremely weak Emily Parker, and thinking about the large bag of medication she had seen her carrying earlier, she immediately took out her phone and called Dr. Thomas Young at Central Hospital, asking him to check what illness Emily was suffering from.
While waiting for Dr. Youngs call back, Sophia did not want to waste time. She ordered the maid to summon Emily to prepare lunch for her.
"Sister Emily, I have many things I cant eat, so be very careful when you cook! But the nutrition must keep up, so youll prepare eight dishes, one soup, plus a fruit for me today!" Sophia reclined on the sofa, issuing orders.

Holding her aching heart, Emily glared at Sophia before turning and going to the kitchen. If Sophia dared to eat what she cooked, then so be it!
Soon, the kitchen was filled with the sounds of pots and pans, as if Emily was venting her anger into the chopping and stir-frying.
After more than an hour, when Emily finally prepared eight dishes and a soup, Sophia leisurely moved over, took a bite, and spat it out: "Ptui, ptui, ptui, what is this stuff? Is this even edible! Do it again!"
Emilys culinary skills were not just passable; she had honed them for Robert. Each dish was a perfect blend of color, aroma, and taste. It was clear that Sophia was deliberately making things difficult.
"Sophia, dont push it too far!" Emily couldnt help but shout in anger.
"Emily, Im pushing it?! Youre the one who harmed my child, and now you say Im pushing it!" Sophia angrily grabbed the bowl of hot soup from the table and splashed it towards Emilys face.
Emily couldnt dodge in time, and the freshly cooked soup splashed all over her hair and neck, causing immediate redness and swelling. Her hair was also adorned with green vegetables, making her look utterly disheveled.
The entire hall fell silent, and the servants stopped their work, not daring to speak. After all, Miss Thompson was likely to become their new mistress.
Sophias phone rang, breaking the silence. She glanced at the screen and walked back to her room to answer it.
"How did the investigation go?" Sophia got straight to the point.
"Sophia, I found out. Its brain cancer. She doesnt have many months left to live!" Thomas Youngs voice was filled with excitement.
"Alright, I understand." Sophia smirked. Even the heavens seemed to be on her side.
"Hey...Sophia, wait a minute. Our deal about getting the Grant familys assets and being together still stands, right? Our child was sacrificed! I miss you so much..." Thomas Young spoke in a sickly sweet manner on the other end of the line.
"Shut up, I told you not to mention that again! Dont worry, when have I ever lied to you? Of course, its still valid. But you need to think of a way to get Emily to die sooner. I can act once I become Mrs. Grant."
Sophias face showed disgust, but her voice was sweet. Thomas Young was still useful to her, and it was not yet time to fall out.
"Thats easy, Sophia. Come over sometime, and Ill give you some hallucinogenic drugs. You can replace all of Emilys brain cancer medication with them. I guarantee she wont just die quickly but also miserably."
Thomas Young laughed sinisterly. Emily had caused the death of his child, and he wanted nothing more than for Emily to suffer.
The two discussed the details carefully, ensuring there were no loose ends, before ending the call.
Meanwhile, Emily, after tidying up, endured the discomfort in her body and went out to buy groceries, preparing to cook another meal for Sophia.
The Parker familys assets were still in their hands, and she couldnt watch her parents life-long efforts be destroyed. She had no choice but to comply.
Emily circled the Downtown Market for a few rounds before buying all the necessary ingredients. She struggled, carrying the heavy bags, gritting her teeth and persisting until she reached the main street, ready to hail a taxi back to the Grant residence.
The bright sun shone overhead, radiating heat. Emily finally couldnt hold on any longer, her vision blurred, and her body went limp.
