Robert Grant had just parked his car when he saw Sophia Thompson lying on the ground, covered in blood, with Emily Parker standing above on the steps of the hospital. His eyes widened with fury.
He picked up Sophia and rushed up the steps, roughly shouldering past Emily, and said coldly, "If anything happens to Sophia, I wont let you off the hook!" Then, without sparing Emily a glance, he hurried to get Sophia to the emergency room.
Emily fell to the ground from his impact, hitting her head against the hospital wall, causing her nose to bleed profusely, but she paid no attention, her eyes only on that cold and heartless figure.
Then, everything went black, and she fainted.
...
An hour later, the emergency room door opened.
The doctor regretfully informed Robert that the child was not saved, but the mother was not seriously injured, and with proper care, she could have children again.
Looking at the unconscious Sophia due to anesthesia, Robert thought of the culprit, if it werent for her, his and Sophias child would not have been lost.
He must teach her a lesson, make her understand the consequences!
With a gloomy expression, Robert left Sophias ward and walked to the end of the corridor to call Emily, wanting her to come and atone for her sins.
But the phone rang twice, and all he got was a mechanical female voice telling him that the number he dialed was out of service...
Robert thought of the pale and thin Emily from yesterday, and the words she said, and suddenly felt a panic in his heart. Could it be that something happened to this woman?
He quickly called his assistant and told Assistant Lin to find Emily as soon as possible. If he found out that she was fine and just not answering his call, he would teach her a harsh lesson!
Robert paced back and forth in the corridor for more than ten minutes, finally waiting for a response from Assistant Lin: "Mr. Grant, Madam... is currently in the emergency room at the hospital."
After asking which emergency room, Robert rushed over.
At the door of the emergency room, the red light was still on, and the sky outside the window gradually darkened.
Robert stretched his legs, which had gone numb from sitting, and he didnt know why he was still waiting here, as if leaving would mean losing something very important.
The hospitals unique whiteness, cold and devoid of human touch, reminded Robert that Emily hated the color white, and he felt a sudden sadness.
A cellphone ringtone interrupted Roberts thoughts, and he saw on the screen that it was Sophia.
Robert paused for a moment, then answered. As soon as the call connected, he heard Sophias sobbing: "Robert, the child... the child is gone..." and then she started crying.
For some reason, Robert felt a bit weary. Sophia used to be gentle and considerate, but after returning three years later, she had changed a lot, making him increasingly impatient.
But after all, she had just lost her child because of Emily, and Sophia had done a favor for the Grant family. He had promised to take care of her for life.
Robert comforted her verbally, but the more Sophia cried, the more agitated she became, forcing Robert to go over and stay with her.
Robert hung up the phone, looked at the closed emergency room door, and had a lot on his mind. In the end, he made a call to Assistant Lin to come over and wait, telling him to notify him immediately if there was any news, and then he left with heavy steps.
As soon as he returned to the ward, Sophia threw herself at him, crying pitifully, and choked out, "Robert, my child is gone, Emily is too cruel!"
"What do you want to do?"
In a place where Robert couldnt see, Sophias face was full of malice, and she gritted her teeth and said, "I want her to pay with blood for blood!"
