A Decade of Entanglement
**
In the depths of autumn, the cold wind was biting.
Lisa Shen wrapped her coat tightly and hurried to the villa entrance in high heels, taking out her keys to unlock the door.
The laughter coming from inside was enviable.
If it were before, Lisa Shen would never have entered.
She would have conveniently left, spending the night in an internet café or a hotel.
But today, she was too exhausted to move.
She squeezed the delicate gift box in her pocket and walked listlessly into the living room, sitting down on the sofa.
She had rushed to the store after receiving a call from Victor Feng, directly from the hospital.
It wasnt heavy, the small thing was not even the size of her palm, yet it weighed heavily on her heart.
Thinking about the faint hope she had harbored on her way back, Lisa Shen laughed at herself in self-mockery.
How could he possibly give her a gift?
She glanced around the villa where she had lived for ten years.
From eighteen to twenty-eight.
Unconsciously, she had been with Victor Feng for a decade.
Lisa Shen had always known that Victor Feng never took her seriously.
She was nothing more than a toy for amusement, a consolation after his beloved left.
Naturally, their relationship couldnt be considered a boyfriend-girlfriend one; at best, they were long-term bedmates.
This bedmate status was something Lisa Shen had pursued relentlessly.
The laughter from inside the room was unceasing.
Lisa Shen felt a pain in her heart.
In fact, she knew Victor Feng had someone else.
Knowing was one thing, but seeing it with her own eyes was another.
Wasnt she usually good at behaving?
Wasnt she usually adept at deceiving herself?
She could just leave the gift box and go, so why was she looking for discomfort?
Lisa Shen thought about it, probably because she had been physically and mentally overdrawn lately, unable to hold on, and wanted a little warmth from Victor Feng.
These days, Shen Enterprises had been maliciously framed by competitors, falling into debt and facing a critical situation.
Her mother, furious, had a recurrence of heart disease and was hospitalized, just out of the danger period.
Lisa Shen threw the gift box on the table and got up to pour herself a glass of red wine at the bar.
The scarlet liquid climbed the transparent glass walls, entwining, tinging Lisa Shens focused eyes red, reflecting the unresolvable sorrow within.
In fact, the companys crisis was traceable; Lisa Shen knew why but did not intervene.
Not only that, when she discovered Victor Fengs involvement in the company, she quietly removed obstacles for him and handed over power one by one.
Her best friend Vivian Lin was furious when she found out: "Lisa Shen, theres a limit to being humble, isnt there? You treat him like a treasure, what does he treat you as? A used and thrown-away condom!"
Lisa Shen endured Vivian Lins anger and murmured, "I love him."
She loved Victor Feng and valued him more than anyone else.
As long as he wanted it, her life was his, so what was a mere company?
Lisa Shen drank cup after cup, and soon, the bottle was empty.
She returned to the living room, lay down on the sofa, and stared at the ceiling, her vision gradually becoming misty.
Creak—
The door was pushed open, and the cold, stern man in a black sweater walked out. Upon seeing Lisa Shen, his face was full of disgust.
"Wheres the thing?"
Lisa Shen wiped her face, got up from the sofa, and handed over the gift box, cautiously asking, "I heard the necklace was designed by you?"
Seeing Victor Feng not speaking, Lisa Shen asked again, "Arent you used to letting your secretary pick ready-made things from the mall for those little lovers?"
Victor Feng had many little lovers.
These people were more or less similar to Maggie Lin.
Maggie Lin was Victor Fengs childhood sweetheart, the person he cherished and loved deeply.
Victor Feng glanced at her, a smile playing on his lips as he said, "Are those outside even comparable to Maggie?"
Lisa Shen was taken aback, unconsciously clenching her palms, her voice dry: "Has Maggie Lin returned to the country?"
"Maggie is back."
