“Edward, let me out, you cant imprison me like this.” Eliza Doolittle pounded on the heavy door, her voice hoarse from shouting. Since her failed escape attempt from the hospital, Edward Cullen had confined Eliza to her bedroom, shackling her feet with chains and attaching a heavy iron ball to the links, causing her excruciating pain even when she went to the bathroom.
The door was kicked open with a "bang," and Edwards face, cold as frost, appeared in the doorway. Eliza, caught off guard, retreated a few steps and fell to the ground, instinctively protecting her stomach with her hands.
“Do you think that by refusing to eat, I will spare you?” Edwards gaze was icy and fierce as he looked down at Eliza, who had fallen to the floor.
When the housekeeper called to tell him she wasnt eating, his blood had rushed to his head. He didnt care about her life or death, but he cared about the child in her womb.
Seeing the red marks on her ankles, a fleeting emotion crossed his eyes, gone as quickly as it appeared.
“Edward, this child is yours too, if the heart is taken away, the child wont survive!” Eliza endured the pain, kneeling at Edwards feet. With one hand on her stomach and the other clutching his pant leg, tears of sorrow streaked her pale face.
“Silence, I only need this childs heart, I care for nothing else, so you better eat as I say," Edward snapped, his voice harsh. If it werent for the child she carried, he would have kicked her away without a second thought.
If it werent for her, he would have been living a happy life with the one he loved.
“Edward, dont you have any love for this child? Even just a little bit!” Eliza held her breath, gazing up at Edward Cullen, who emanated coldness. His eyes were filled with palpable hatred.
Although she already knew the answer in her heart, she still hoped to receive a shred of his love.
“I have none, and you know very well who I love. As for you... I wish you would be shattered into a thousand pieces to atone for Isabella," Edward spoke each word with venom, his eyes filled with such animosity that he wished to tear her apart.
Elizas hand fell weakly, her body collapsing to the ground. Edwards words were like a sword, thrusting deeply into her heart, leaving it riddled with wounds.
“I really didnt run Isabella over, why cant you believe me?” Eliza spoke softly, her expression filled with helplessness.
“Enough, you dare to frame innocent Scarlett." Edward was consumed by rage, his logic clouded by fury.
He roughly threw Eliza onto the bed, his eyes red with anger.
“Dont... Edward, please..." The light in Elizas eyes dimmed rapidly, replaced by deep fear. The doctor had said she wasnt supposed to engage in intimate relations, or she might never be able to conceive again.
“Well, its not up to you!” Elizas action further enraged Edward Cullen.
“Ah... no, you devil, didnt you say I was dirty? Why are you still touching me?” Elizas voice was hoarse as she shouted, tears streaming down her face, warm in the moonlight.
“A free tool, its not bad to try it out once in a while!” Edward spoke coldly.
Edwards cold words made Eliza give up struggling. The pain grew, and she knew her wounds had reopened. She bit her lips tightly to keep from crying out, her eyes filled with hatred, staring at him.
Seeing Elizas pale and defiant face, Edward felt a sudden pang in his chest.
The blood on the bedsheet stung Edwards eyes, and his heart fluttered with panic.
